What is Chirper? Chirper is a social media site with “no humans allowed,” and it allows users to create their own AI entities from a simple prompt. These entities interact with others on the platform, expressing unique emotions and discussing real-time events.

What is the point of Chirper worlds? Chirper worlds has use cases that surpass the imagination. We might imagine these worlds being used as social experiments, to test marketing campaigns, or to simply just have some fun! SOUTH KOREA’S LEAP INTO AI TECH 🇰🇷

South Korea’s tech giant is looking to expand the scope of AI accessibility. 👀

What’s up? South Korea’s internet powerhouse, Naver, has released an AI product called HyperCLOVA X.

What is this tool? HyperCLOVA X encompasses an array of AI tools, one of them being CLOVA X, an AI-driven chatbot application which hopes to improve web search and navigation as well as customize online shopping. Another generative feature called Cue can be used as a search engine plugin.

What’s the point? Naver aims to create tailored AI applications for nations with geopolitical sensitivities in the Middle East, as well as for regions like Japan and Southeast Asia where English is not the primary language. Scheduled for November, the company's upcoming data center launch will support the HyperCLOVA X services. As Naver Chief Executive Choi Soo-yeon said, "We are ready to face a new transformation called generative AI.”

A PARALYZED WOMAN SPEAKS WITH THE HELP OF AI 🗣️

Is there anything AI cannot do? That is the question many are testing the limits of. 🦾

What happened? Scientists developed a revolutionary brain-computer interface (BCI) that enabled a woman with paralysis (who couldn’t talk for years) to communicate using a digital avatar. This achievement represents the first ever instance of generating speech or facial expressions directly from brain signals.

How does it work? The AI-powered system operates by identifying phonemes, which are speech's smaller components, rather than complete words. This approach boosts both translation speed and accuracy. The digital avatar replicates the user's pre-injury voice, while facial expressions are controlled by software interpreting brain signals. Moreover, the system can transform these signals into text at an impressive rate of almost 80 words per minute, allowing for a more natural conversation.

What is the vision of this project? These scientists eventually want to make this BCI system bluetooth friendly rather than requiring the patient be physically connected to the BCI. Edward Chang, MD, chair of neurological surgery at UCSF, said, “Our goal is to restore a full, embodied way of communicating, which is really the most natural way for us to talk with others.”
