“WIZARD OF OZ”: REIMAGINED BY AI 🧙‍♂️

What’s going on? Starting August 28, Las Vegas’s high-tech venue Sphere will use AI to debut a reimagined version of The Wizard of Oz on its massive wraparound LED screen.

What will this look like? A 2,000-person team is using AI to transform the 1939 classic into an immersive experience. AI will be used to enhance resolution, add vivid detail to blurry scenes, and a technique called “outpainting” will be used to digitally expand what’s outside the original camera frame—revealing, for example, more of the Yellow Brick Road and surrounding Oz landscape. In some moments, the technology will even extrapolate performances from actors based on what’s already in the film.

“Our standard on this was … to try and bring you into the film, as if you were in the studio when it was shot.”

-James Dolan, Sphere Entertainment CEO

Why is this important? This project blends nostalgia with cutting-edge tech, offering a new way to experience beloved films. Instead of just watching The Wizard of Oz, audiences will feel like they’ve stepped into it—without altering its original heart and story.

AI-POWERED PRIVATE SCHOOLS CONTINUE TO EXPAND 🤯

What’s up? A new AI-powered private school system, called “Alpha Schools,” is set to open seven new campuses across U.S. cities this fall with a bold new model for personalized education. The new campuses are launching in Phoenix, Raleigh, San Francisco, and more.

How does the school work? Each morning, students learn using AI-powered tools that adapt to their individual pace, helping them master core subjects like math and science in two-hour sessions. In the afternoons, students participate in practical workshops on public speaking, entrepreneurship, and other real-world skills. Human teachers, called “guides,” focus on mentorship and emotional support rather than traditional lecturing or grading.

Why is this significant? This new approach challenges the one-size-fits-all model of education by offering personalized, mastery-based learning and life skill development. Alpha Schools represent a glimpse into what the future of education might look like.

CHINA REVEALS AI ACTION PLAN TO COUNTER U.S. 🌎

What’s new? China announced a global action plan, calling for international cooperation on AI development and regulation.

Want the details? Premier Li Qiang proposed creating a global AI organization and said China would help developing countries adopt the technology through its new “AI plus” strategy. The announcement comes just days after U.S. President Donald Trump revealed his own AI strategy, focused on minimizing regulations, reducing bias in models, and expanding U.S. tech influence overseas. Experts say the two powers are forming rival camps—China with Belt and Road partners, the U.S. with allies like Japan and Australia.

Why should you care? The world’s two largest economies are pushing competing visions for the future of AI. Their choices could shape global standards, influence who benefits from the technology, and deepen geopolitical divides in the years ahead.
