WILL AI CURE CANCER, PROVIDE 3.5-DAY WORKWEEKS? 🗓️

What AI is capable of, nobody knows. But we do know one thing for sure: The next generation will not be the same. 🙌

What happened? In a recent interview with Bloomberg TV, the CEO of JPMorgan Chase, Jamie Dimon, said that because of AI, “Your children are going to live to 100 and not have cancer because of technology … And literally they’ll probably be working three-and-a-half days a week.”

Why did he say this? Dimon's optimism about increased life expectancy stems from AI's potential in treating diseases, particularly cancer. He sees AI as a game-changer in the medical field, offering hope for a healthier and longer life for future generations. Furthermore, Dimon emphasized that AI is not a distant dream but a "real" and "living" technology capable of replacing humans in various sectors, enabling humans to spend less time on tedious tasks. He also views AI as a critical factor in JPMorgan Chase's future success, citing its value in customer engagement, risk management, and productivity enhancement.

IS AI THE FUTURE OF PAYMENTS? 💳

Police: Why didn't you report your stolen credit card?

Man: Cuz the thief was spending less than my wife.

Police: Then why are you reporting it now?

Man: Well, I think now the thief's wife has started to use it. 🤑

What’s happening? Visa has announced a $100 million investment in companies focused on generative AI technologies and applications that are poised to shape the future of commerce and payments. These investments will be channeled through Visa Ventures, the company's corporate investment arm, which has been in operation for 16 years.

What is being invested in? Visa Ventures is open to making a variety of investments, from smaller ones to larger, in strategically compelling ventures. The company is particularly interested in supporting startups that apply generative AI to address real challenges in commerce, payments, and fintech, spanning processes and infrastructure. Although this is just the start, David Rolf, head of Visa Ventures, said that generative AI has the potential “to be one of the most transformative technologies of our time.”

NEW AI CHIPS ARE COMING 🦾

Everyone is talking about this global “chip” shortage, and I’m not sure why people don’t just eat French fries instead! 🍟

What happened? Canadian startup Tenstorrent has announced a new partnership with Samsung's chip manufacturing department. Tenstorrent specializes in the production of AI chips and intellectual property for data centers, and is determined to bring the "next generation of AI chiplets to market."

What is the vision? This collaboration will leverage Samsung's advanced SF4X manufacturing process and 4nm architecture to create the next-gen chips, which will be designed as chiplets that can be paired with other chiplets in a single package. Jim Keller, CEO of Tenstorrent, emphasizes the goal of developing “high-performance computing solutions for customers around the world.”

What is the significance? The AI chip industry is highly competitive, with Nvidia currently leading the market. However, recent events, such as the antitrust investigation in France and increased regulatory scrutiny in the United States, have added complexity to the landscape. The U.S. has also made significant moves, including a multibillion-dollar deal with Vietnam, highlighting the strategic importance of AI chips in today's global technology ecosystem. Everyone is trying to get their hands on AI chips, so there is an opportunity here for this Tenstorrent-Samsung partnership to be a global solution to this shortage amidst a very high demand.
