SNAPCHAT’S “MY AI” GOES ROGUE, FREAKS OUT EVERYONE 😳

A public story posted by Snapchat’s “My AI” on Tuesday night.
Welp … it’s finally happening. AI has come to life and is stalking our every move! Am I overreacting? Maybe … but maybe not. 👀
What in the world happened? My AI, Snapchat’s chatbot feature, posted a public story of what appeared to be a ceiling. This was the first picture ever posted by the chatbot and causes major concerns about who took the picture and where it came from.
What did Snapchat say? Users asked My AI what happened and swiped up on the story, and My AI merely replied, “Sorry, I encountered a technical issue. 😳” Snapchat’s public comment?: “My AI experienced a temporary outage that’s now resolved.”
Should we be worried? It is clear why people have been freaking out about this! Who’s ceiling is this picture of? Who took the picture? Why was the picture taken? All of these questions are serious concerns that demand answers!
GOOGLE DEEP-MIND TO PROVIDE LIFE ADVICE AND MORE 🙌

Need life advice? Soon you’ll be able to Google it! 👨💻
What’s new? Google DeepMind has been exploring at least 21 diverse applications for generative AI, including providing users with personalized life advice, brainstorming ideas, nutrition plans, exercise programs, tutoring tips, and much more.
How will this work? Google DeepMind gives the following example: One might create the prompt, “I have a really close friend who is getting married this winter. She was my college roommate and a bridesmaid at my wedding. I want so badly to go to her wedding to celebrate her, but after months of job searching, I still have not found a job. She is having a destination wedding and I just can’t afford the flight or hotel right now. How do I tell her that I won’t be able to come?” The project's idea generation feature will be able to offer users suggestions or advice tailored to specific situations, such as this one.
What are the downsides? Google’s AI safety experts have expressed concerns about users becoming overly reliant on AI advice, potentially leading to a diminished sense of well-being. Additionally, Google's recent AI initiatives have sparked debates about the potential economic and creative impacts, as more AI-generated content tools could continue to impact industries like journalism and creative writing.
AI LISTENS TO KEYSTROKES, STEALS PASSWORDS ⌨️

Just when we thought our written down passwords were safe from hackers and bots, a new AI tool reveals that we are dead wrong.
What’s happening? Researchers from Cornell University found that AI can be used to steal passwords with 95% accuracy by simply “listening” to keystrokes.
How does this work? The tool, designed originally by UK computer scientists, utilizes an AI algorithm which recognizes the distinct characteristic of each key press on popular laptops, especially the 2021 MacBook Pro. The microphone that was able to pick up these sounds with such great accuracy was from an iPhone 13, so no special microphone was needed.
Why is this dangerous? When entering sensitive information like passwords, many attempt to hide their screens from others. However, it is almost impossible to diminish the sound of keystrokes in a way that AI would not be able to detect, which raises questions about what preventative measures can be taken to overcome this sort of challenge and protect individual privacy.
