🛠️ NEW AI TOOLS 🛠️
What’s new? Google DeepMind has hired Cambridge researcher Henry Shevlin as an in-house philosopher to help think through machine consciousness, human-AI relationships, and readiness for artificial general intelligence.
What will this look like? Shevlin is a cognitive scientist and AI ethics researcher who will start the role in May. He said he will work on questions about whether advanced AI systems could ever be conscious, how people relate to increasingly human-like machines, and what society should be prepared for as AI grows more powerful. He is also keeping his Cambridge roles part-time, which shows this job connects academic research with real-world AI development inside one of the world’s top labs.
What does this mean? AI companies are no longer treating philosophy as something separate from technology. As AI gets more advanced, questions about consciousness, identity, and ethical responsibility become harder to ignore. Hiring philosophers suggests these companies know the biggest challenges ahead are not just technical. They are also deeply human questions about how we understand minds, machines, and ourselves.

Are you tracking agent views on your docs?
AI agents already outnumber human visitors to your docs — now you can track them.
What’s new? Amazon Web Services has launched Amazon Bio Discovery, a new AI tool designed to help scientists discover and test possible new drugs faster.
How does it work? Amazon Bio Discovery gives researchers access to a large set of AI models trained on biology data. These models can help scientists design possible drug candidates, especially antibodies, and compare which options look most promising. The system also includes an AI assistant that helps researchers choose models, set up experiments, and improve results using their own past lab data, all without needing advanced coding skills. It can then send top candidates directly to partner labs for real-world testing, and the results flow back into the system so the next round can improve.
Why does this matter? Drug discovery is usually slow, expensive, and complicated. Amazon says this tool can shorten parts of the process from months or even years to just weeks. That could help researchers find better treatments faster and get new medicines to patients sooner.

📈 HOW ARE THE BIG AI PLAYERS DOING?
Same Kafka Protocol. Zero Kafka Baggage.
WarpStream BYOC speaks the Kafka protocol. Your existing clients, tools, and consumers work as-is. What disappears: local disks, partition rebalancing, inter-AZ fees, broker crashes, and capacity planning.
Agents auto-scale to match traffic automatically – no custom tooling, scripts, or operators required. Cursor's team reported spending zero hours thinking about scaling WarpStream. Character.AI called it operationally simpler at scale.
