OPENAI’S GPUS ARE MELTING 🫠

Is AI worth melting for? 🙃

What’s up? ChatGPT’s new image generation tool, powered by the advanced GPT-4o model, has become so popular that it’s straining OpenAI’s infrastructure. As a result, Sam Altman has told people to “chill on generating images.”

Want the details? The new tool, released last week, creates highly realistic images and handles details like text rendering and bodily details better than ever before. But even after delaying the feature for free users, the company still couldn’t keep up with the volume. Altman didn’t say exactly how strict the new limit is, but promised it’s only temporary while OpenAI works to scale up its systems. This matters because it shows both the excitement and the limits of current AI technology. As AI becomes more accessible and powerful, it also demands more energy and computing power—raising questions about cost, scalability, and sustainability. This offers a glimpse into the growing pains of AI and shows why big tech companies are calling for massive data center investments to power advanced models.

GOOGLE’S AI CAN HELP YOU PLAN TRIPS ✈️

I was going to make a joke about time travel, but you didn’t like it. 😅

What’s new? Google is launching new AI-powered features across Search, Maps, and Gemini to help people plan their summer vacations more easily and efficiently.

What are the new features?

  • AI Trip Itineraries in Search: Get instant travel plans by searching things like “itinerary for Costa Rica with nature focus.”

  • Easy Itinerary Saving: Export trip ideas to Docs, Gmail, or save them as custom lists directly in Google Maps.

  • Hotel Price Alerts: Track hotel prices for specific dates and get email alerts when prices drop.

  • Free Gemini “Gems” Tool: Create custom AI helpers to plan trips, pick destinations, or build packing lists.

  • Maps Screenshot Organizer: Maps can now find places from your screenshots and pin them on your map.

Why should you care? Planning a trip can be overwhelming—these updates make it easier to get ideas, stay organized, and save money. With AI doing the heavy lifting, you can spend less time planning and more time enjoying your vacation.

AI DETERMINES YOUR AGE FROM DROPS OF BLOOD 🩸

Two blood cells fell in love. But alas, it was all in vein. 😞

What’s new? Scientists in Japan have developed an AI-powered blood test that can estimate your biological age using just five drops of blood.

Want the details? The research team at Osaka University created a deep-learning model that analyzes the balance between 22 steroid hormones in the blood. These hormones control essential body functions like metabolism and stress response. Instead of looking at individual hormone levels, the AI focuses on how these hormone levels relate to each other, allowing it to detect patterns of aging with greater accuracy. In testing, the model revealed strong links between stress hormones and aging, and it also identified differences between men and women and the impact of lifestyle factors like smoking.

Why should you care? This is significant because your biological age—the real measure of how your body is aging—can differ from your birthdate. With a simple blood test, doctors could soon monitor aging more precisely, helping people make smarter choices to stay healthier longer.
