What’s up? Gemini now lets users import memories, preferences, and even full chat history from other AI apps, so switching assistants no longer means starting from scratch.

How does it work? To do this, users can open Gemini Settings and use a new import option. For memory import, Gemini gives you a prompt to paste into your current AI app, which creates a summary of your preferences and personal context. You then paste that summary back into Gemini, and it saves the information for future chats. Google also says users can upload a ZIP file of chat history from other AI providers, making it possible to search old threads and continue past conversations inside Gemini.

Why should you care? One of the biggest barriers to trying a new AI assistant is losing all the context you have already built up on your current platform. Google is trying to remove that barrier for those who want to try Gemini.

What’s new? Google is expanding Search Live globally — now available in over 200 countries and territories.

How does it work? Search Live is built for moments when typing is inconvenient or too slow. In the Google app on Android or iPhone, users can tap the Live icon under the Search bar and ask questions out loud, then keep the conversation going with follow-up questions. Search responds with audio and also provides helpful web links. Users can also turn on their camera so Search can understand what they are looking at in real time, like a broken appliance or a shelving unit they are trying to install. Search Live can then walk someone through the solution in real time. The update is powered by Gemini 3.1 Flash Live, a new audio and voice model designed to make conversations feel more natural and work across many languages.

Why does this matter? This makes Google Search feel more like a live assistant, helping people solve problems faster, more naturally, and in their own language.
