“GODFATHER OF AI” VOICES HIS DOOMSDAY CONCERNS 🗣️
More doomsday predictions? This one comes from the Godfather of AI. 😬
What happened? In a recent interview with 60 Minutes, Geoffrey Hinton, often dubbed “the Godfather of AI,” offered a thought-provoking glimpse into the world of AI and the profound implications it holds for humanity.
Who is Geoffrey Hinton? Hinton is a renowned British computer scientist, and he is celebrated for his groundbreaking work on artificial neural networks, the foundation of AI.
What did he say? Hinton began by expressing his belief that we are entering a unique era where AI systems may surpass human intelligence. He argued that advanced AI can comprehend, learn, and make decisions based on experience, although they lack consciousness for now. Consequently, Hinton said, “I think we’re moving into a period when for the first time ever, we have things more intelligent than us.”
What does this mean? The interview also shed light on the ambiguity surrounding AI’s inner workings. Hinton emphasized that while humans design the learning algorithms behind AI, the resulting neural networks become complex entities that defy full comprehension. “We have a very good idea sort of roughly what it’s doing,” Hinton said. “But as soon as it gets really complicated, we don’t actually know what’s going on any more than we know what’s going on in your brain.” As AI grows more capable, Hinton believes it poses risks such as autonomous battlefield robots, the proliferation of fake news, and biases in employment and policing.
“We’re entering a period of great uncertainty where we’re dealing with things we’ve never done before. And normally the first time you deal with something totally novel, you get it wrong. And we can’t afford to get it wrong with these things.”
GOOGLE’S NEW “AI SEARCH” FOR DOCTORS 🩺

What’s up, doc? 🥕
What’s new? Google Cloud has introduced new AI-powered search capabilities that will allow clinicians to quickly access information from various data sources.
Why is this important? The healthcare industry often grapples with disparate data stored in multiple formats, making it cumbersome for clinicians to retrieve vital insights. Google Cloud’s innovative search tool enables healthcare professionals to effortlessly extract data from clinical notes, scanned documents, and electronic health records, consolidating it into a single accessible location. Physicians can now swiftly obtain patient histories, medications, and other pertinent information by posing specific queries. Additionally, Google’s AI-driven search capabilities extend beyond data retrieval to facilitate tasks such as accurate billing code assignment and eligibility assessment for clinical trials.
Is this safe and accurate? This technology references the original data source, instilling confidence in clinicians that the AI-generated responses are reliable and do not hallucinate. Google Cloud’s commitment to data security and HIPAA compliance also goes a long way to ensure patient confidentiality.
DOMINO’S PIZZA PARTNERS WITH MICROSOFT AND OPENAI 🤝

Did someone say pizza and AI? Oh yes we did. 🍕
What’s new? Domino’s Pizza has unveiled an ambitious partnership with Microsoft Cloud and Azure OpenAI Service, signaling a five-year project seeking to enhance employee and customer service through generative AI technology.
What will this look like? While the project’s specific details will gradually emerge over the next 6 to 18 months, we know that this collaboration aims to go beyond traditional chatbots, focusing on hyper-personalization and reshaping the online ordering experience. The AI technology will combine proprietary and non-proprietary components, integrating Domino’s personalized, in-house tech with Microsoft’s Cloud and Azure OpenAI interface. The initiative will most likely commence with the relaunch of Domino’s website, enhancing customer personalization through AI. Domino’s isn’t solely prioritizing customer-facing improvements, however. The project also seeks to empower employees with invisible back-of-house AI capabilities, enabling streamlined decision-making in labor scheduling, inventory management, and daily operations.
