What’s new? Microsoft has announced a new partnership with Inworld AI to bring cutting-edge AI tools to Xbox game developers. This multiyear collaboration aims to empower developers with the ability to create AI-powered characters, stories, and quests, enhancing the gaming experience for players.

How will it work? One of the key components of this partnership is the "AI design copilot" system, which will enable Xbox developers to craft intricate scripts, dialogue trees, quest lines, and more. Inworld AI has been at the forefront of developing AI NPCs that react to player inquiries, offering unique voices, complex dialogue trees, and personalized dynamic storylines within games. By leveraging Inworld's expertise in generative AI models for character development and Microsoft's cloud-based AI solutions, including Azure OpenAI Service, the collaboration promises to revolutionize game creation.

Will this threaten human jobs? While the use of generative AI in game development has sparked controversy, Microsoft's approach positions these tools as aids to developers rather than replacements for human creativity. Game creators will have the freedom to choose the level of generative AI integration in their titles, ensuring that creativity and human input remain central to the gaming experience.

AI’S INVOLVEMENT IN CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS 📝

What’s happening? Luminance, a company specializing in AI for legal professionals, is set to launch Luminance Autopilot, a fully automated contract negotiation tool.

Why? Legal professionals are often burdened with hours of tedious contract review work, which can slow down business negotiations and create bottlenecks in the legal process. Luminance aims to address this issue by introducing AI-driven automation into the negotiation of contracts. Jaeger Glucina, Managing Director and Chief of Staff at Luminance, emphasizes the need to reduce the grunt work for lawyers, allowing them to focus on strategic aspects of their practice. She explained, "Legal professionals are obviously very highly trained people, but the reality is, they are spending a huge portion of their time reviewing [contracts]. It can take up to an hour for someone to review a non-disclosure agreement. There can be hundreds of these documents [in a firm] every day."

How does it work? Luminance Autopilot streamlines the contract negotiation process by swiftly reviewing contracts, proposing changes, and facilitating a back-and-forth negotiation between parties, all within a matter of minutes. This innovative tool ensures that legal professionals no longer have to spend hours scrutinizing each contract line by line. The legal profession will evolve alongside technological advancements, with lawyers focusing on more strategic and valuable tasks, while AI takes care of the routine work. Human involvement in the final review and approval of contracts will remain essential for trust and accountability, ensuring that legal decisions align with clients’ specific needs and vulnerabilities.

AI DEEPFAKES EXPLOIT HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS 😐

AI deepfakes will continue to be a concern, and striking a balance between proactive use and abuse is one of the more pressing concerns of our day.

What’s up? A recent scandal at a New Jersey high school began when a group of teenagers discovered that nude images of themselves, artificially generated by AI, had been circulated in group chats, leaving them violated and humiliated.

Some more background? The incident unfolded at Westfield High School, where fake nude images of several girls were shared among students over the summer, but only came to light in the past few weeks. The response involved the Westfield Police Department, the school's counseling department, and administrators, underscoring the severity of the situation.

Is there a solution? The ease with which deepfake content can be created is a growing concern. One photo is now sufficient to generate convincing deepfake images, and the tools to create them are increasingly accessible. To combat this, there is a pressing need for technology that can detect AI-generated images, preventing their spread on popular social media platforms and websites. Legislation has been introduced to address explicit faked images and videos, but prosecuting individuals who use AI to generate the images remains difficult. In the Westfield case, families have filed police reports, and a New Jersey senator has called for an investigation into the incident.
