AMD LAUNCHES MOST ADVANCED AI CHIP YET 🦾

Watch out, Nvidia! AMD is coming in hot, hot, hot! 🔥

What’s new? At a recent launch event in San Jose, California, AMD introduced its Instinct MI300 Series accelerator family, specifically designed to tackle the formidable workloads of AI applications.

Is the chip any good? The MI300 family boasts industry-leading capacity and bandwidth (5.2 TB/s), positioning it as the most advanced AI accelerator in the industry. CEO Lisa Su remarked, “I have to say this is truly the most advanced product we've ever built, and it is the most advanced AI accelerator in the industry.”

What is AMD’s place in the chip market? AMD projects over $2 billion in sales from the new chips by 2024. The surge in demand for AI chips has prompted AMD to revise its market projections, now anticipating the AI accelerator chip market in data centers to exceed $400 billion by 2027. Many analysts are bullish on AMD, stating, “We see no reason why AMD can't capture 10%-20% share of the $100 billion+ AI accelerator market longer term, which could mean double-digit revenue growth and margin expansion for the next 2-3 years.”

What’s new? Meta has released a new image generation tool called “Imagine” which is seamlessly integrated into Messenger and Instagram chats.

How does it work? Messenger and Instagram users can now create images within the chat as well as remix and add text prompts to images shared by friends. All you have to do is press and hold on an image within the chat and add a text prompt! The Imagine tool can also be accessed by typing “@Meta AI /imagine” in the text box. This feature extends beyond chats, as it is accessible on the web as well, at imagine.meta.com.

What else is Meta doing? To ensure safety, Meta plans to implement “invisible watermarking” in the coming weeks, initially on the imagine tool, with broader integration across various AI-generated image products in the future. Additionally, Meta is enhancing its “Meta AI Assistant” for more detailed mobile responses and improved search result summaries, while AI characters based on celebrities like Snoop Dogg and Tom Brady are already available in WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram.

“CHAT-GPT” WAS THE MOST-VIEWED WIKIPEDIA PAGE IN 2023 👁️

ChatGPT has become so popular that people are starting to use it synonymously with “AI” … which is quite annoying actually … so please stop! 😅

What’s up? The ChatGPT page claimed the title of the most-viewed English article on Wikipedia for 2023. This reflects a large public interest in AI over the past year.

What were the numbers? The Wikimedia Foundation, custodian of the world’s largest online encyclopedia, revealed that English Wikipedia amassed a staggering 84 billion page views throughout the year. ChatGPT, the free-to-use AI chatbot birthed by OpenAI’s Sam Altman, emerged as the frontrunner with an impressive 49.5 million views. Debuting just over a year ago (on November 30, 2022), ChatGPT swiftly garnered over 100 million users, reflecting massive public interest in AI.

What else was on the list? The second and third spots on the annual top 25 chart were claimed by "Deaths in 2023" and the "2023 Cricket World Cup," attaining 42.7 million and 38.2 million views, respectively.
