SALTY STORIES OF THE WEEK 🧂
Want some seasoning? Here are the saltiest AI stories in FRY-nance from this week:
Apple is being sued by shareholders who say the company misled them about how quickly it could add advanced AI features to the iPhone and Siri, which they believe hurt iPhone sales and caused Apple’s stock to drop. The lawsuit claims that Apple suggested big AI upgrades were coming soon, especially for the iPhone 16, but in reality, it didn’t have working versions of these features and later pushed back some improvements to 2026. As Apple’s slow AI rollout became clear, its stock price fell sharply—losing nearly 25% of its value since late 2024, wiping out about $900 billion in market worth. (Read More)
SoftBank founder Masayoshi Son wants to build a $1 trillion AI and robotics industrial hub in Arizona, called “Project Crystal Land,” and hopes Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) will play a major role. This could potentially bring hundreds of thousands of manufacturing jobs to America and boost innovation. But the project’s future depends on whether TSMC and other tech giants join in and on political support, tax breaks, and incentives from Arizona and Washington. (Read More)
Goldman Sachs has officially launched a new AI assistant across the company to help boost productivity. About 10,000 employees are already using the tool, which can summarize complex documents, draft content, and analyze data. With this move, Goldman joins other major banks like Citigroup, Morgan Stanley, and Bank of America, all of which are using AI assistants to streamline daily tasks and support employees with everything from policy searches to client interactions. THIS WEEK’S DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH 💎
Big guys tend to get all the attention, but we dig up the diamonds just for you. 💎
This week’s diamond in the rough: Cisco Systems (CSCO)
How is Cisco using AI? Cisco is positioning itself as a key player in AI infrastructure. At its recent Cisco Live conference, the company unveiled new networking products designed specifically for AI workloads, including switches, routers, and “AI-ready” data center solutions. A major part of this push includes a partnership with Nvidia to simplify building AI data centers, as demand for AI-powered computing grows. These AI-focused offerings are already driving meaningful orders and are expected to contribute even more in 2026 as enterprise and sovereign AI projects expand globally.
Why is Cisco valuable? Cisco recently reported strong fiscal Q3 results, with sales rising 11% to $14.1 billion and adjusted earnings up 9% to 96 cents per share, both beating expectations. Orders for AI-related network infrastructure more than doubled quarter-over-quarter to $600 million. The stock is up 11% year-to-date as the company benefits from AI momentum, product refresh cycles, and recent high-profile deals like its $28 billion acquisition of data analytics firm Splunk, which broadens its software and cybersecurity portfolio.
