FILM STUDENT ARRESTED FOR EATING AI ARTWORK 🎨

What’s up? University of Alaska Fairbanks undergraduate student Graham Granger was arrested after tearing down and eating AI-generated artwork in a campus exhibit. Yes, you read that correctly.

Want the details? According to university police, Granger vandalized over 50 images created by MFA student Nick Dwyer in collaboration with AI, claiming it was a protest against AI-generated art. Dwyer, who has used AI in his work since 2017, says the destroyed pieces explored themes of identity and “AI psychosis”—a condition he believes he personally experienced after years of working with AI. The exhibit also featured work by four other MFA students and was on display in a public space on campus. Granger, a film student, was charged with criminal mischief and is set to appear in court next week.

What does this mean? AI’s role in creativity is a hot topic, and it’s getting even hotter. As AI becomes more involved in human expression, questions about authenticity, impact, and attribution are intensifying.
