What’s cookin’? xAI’s new Grok Bots can now talk. Grok Bots are AI workers that get their own cloud computer and can actually use websites, apps, files, and other tools to complete multi-step jobs for you—not just answer questions. You could have one research something, update a CRM, draft follow-ups, work through an inbox, or handle repetitive operations while you do something else. They can also remember how you work and keep running even when your computer is closed. Now that xAI has added voice mode, you can speak to these Bots and hear their responses instead of managing everything through text.
🤔 Hunter’s take: Talking to a chatbot is convenient. Talking to an AI that can actually go do something is different. Imagine saying, “Check my inbox, find the three messages I need to answer today, draft responses, and tell me when they’re ready.” The interface for using software is slowly shifting from clicking through apps to simply telling an AI worker what you want done.
What’s cookin’? OpenAI just launched Astra for Law, a legal version of its GPT-6 Astra model designed to help lawyers research cases, analyze documents, and draft legal work. Its biggest upgrade is a new legal search system that can scan U.S. case law, statutes, regulations, court rules, and administrative decisions across more than 230 million web pages. Instead of simply giving an answer, Astra can find the actual cases and passages supporting it so lawyers can verify the work themselves. OpenAI says the legal setup performed substantially better than its normal web-search version on a legal research benchmark. Major firms including Latham & Watkins, Cooley, Ropes & Gray, and Sullivan & Cromwell are already testing it.
🤔 Hunter’s take: The interesting part isn’t that AI can write legal documents. It’s that AI is starting to come packaged with professional-grade knowledge, tools, and guardrails for one specific job. That’s a much bigger shift. Instead of lawyers adapting a general chatbot to legal work, the chatbot is being rebuilt around how lawyers actually work. Expect medicine, accounting, finance, and other professions to follow the same path.
