GROK 3 IS HERE 🦾
Q: Why do AI models struggle in the morning?
A: They are “groky.” 😓
What’s new? Elon Musk’s AI startup, xAI, has launched Grok 3, its latest AI model, claiming it surpasses competitors like OpenAI and China’s DeepSeek in math, science, and coding tests.
Want the details? Elon Musk originally launched xAI and Grok with the mission of “understanding the universe.” This includes enhancing and surpassing human reasoning to improve humanity. Last weekend, Musk declared, “This might be the last time that any AI is better than Grok.” He may be right. Grok 3 is engineered to deliver more precise and contextually aware responses, significantly improving user interactions compared with previous models. To achieve this, xAI has leveraged a massive data center in Memphis, housing approximately 200,000 GPUs, to train the model. This release places xAI in direct competition with industry leaders like OpenAI and DeepSeek for the best AI model on the market.
What else? Musk has stated that, upon the stability and maturity of Grok 3, Grok 2 will be open sourced—he expects this to happen within a few months as the company works out any minor issues that may arise with the new model. Additionally, voice features for Grok 3 will be coming soon.
Where is it available? Grok 3 is now available to X’s Premium+ subscribers ($50/month). For those accessing Grok on the web or Grok app, xAI has launched a new subscription tier called SuperGrok. Priced at $30 per month or $300 per year, SuperGrok unlocks Grok 3, additional DeepSearch queries, and unlimited AI-generated images.
META ANNOUNCES FIRST-EVER LLMACON EVENT 🎤
Q: Why should you never buy anything from a llama?
A: They will fleece you. 🦙
What’s happening? Meta has announced LlamaCon, its first developer conference focused on generative AI, set for April 29.
Want the details? The event will highlight Meta’s latest advancements in open-source AI, particularly its Llama family of models, which power applications used by companies like Goldman Sachs, AT&T, and DoorDash. This announcement comes as Meta ramps up its AI investments, pledging up to $80 billion this year for AI research, hiring, and infrastructure.
“At LlamaCon, we’ll share the latest on our open source AI developments to help developers do what they do best: build amazing apps and products, whether as a start-up or at scale.”
WILL AI LOWER GROCERY PRICES AT WALMART? 🍎
Q: Where does Walmart keep the Terminator toys?
A: Aisle B, back. 🛒
What’s up? Walmart is taking a high-tech approach to managing climate risks in its agricultural supply chain, which might help it more optimally price and sell produce.
How will this work? The retail giant has partnered with Helios AI, a software company specializing in climate risk analysis and price forecasting. The new system will predict how climate conditions could impact the availability and cost of agricultural goods, particularly fresh produce. Helios’ platform will provide Walmart with long-term climate risk assessments, price trends, and weather projections up to a year in advance. Walmart will use this data to inform decisions within its supply chain.
Why? With over 4,600 U.S. stores handling thousands of produce items daily, Walmart is looking to fortify its food supply chain. Climate change has made weather patterns more unpredictable, contributing to food loss—an issue the USDA estimates accounts for 30% of agricultural waste. Through this new partnership, Walmart is looking for ways to use cutting-edge technology to improve sourcing and sustainability.
