GOOGLE BRINGS GEMINI TO YOUR TV 📺
What’s new? Google has introduced Gemini for TV, bringing conversational AI directly to Google TV for the first time.
How does it work? Gemini for TV lets you have natural, back-and-forth conversations with your TV. You can ask it to recommend shows based on everyone’s preferences, catch up on past seasons, or even find a series when you only remember vague details. Beyond entertainment, Gemini can also help with learning and daily life—explaining school topics, guiding new skills, or offering quick recipe ideas, all with supporting YouTube videos displayed on the big screen. The feature launches today on the TCL QM9K series, with more TVs and devices gaining access later this year.
Why should you care? This upgrade turns your TV into more than just an entertainment hub; it becomes an interactive assistant for the whole household. Whether you’re settling family movie debates or helping kids with homework, Gemini brings AI-powered support to the center of home life.
THE MLB WILL NOW LET AI CALL BALLS AND STRIKES ⚾️
What’s new? Major League Baseball announced that the Automated Ball-Strike (ABS) Challenge System will be implemented for the 2026 season.
How will this work? Tested in the minor leagues this past season, the system leverages smart cameras positioned around the field to track the exact location of each pitch. This allows teams to instantly challenge calls made by the umpire that they disagree with. In the event of a challenge, a graphic will instantly appear on the scoreboard displaying the exact location of the pitch and verdict, so play will not be disrupted. Each team will start with two challenges per game, and they keep them if the challenge is successful. Only the pitcher, catcher, or batter can request a review immediately after the pitch by tapping their hat or helmet. Teams cannot rely on signals from the dugout, and an extra challenge is awarded if the game goes into extra innings. The system runs on T-Mobile’s 5G network for real-time accuracy and speed.
Why is this significant? Fans and players have long debated questionable strike calls, and the ABS Challenge System aims to make the game fairer, faster, and more transparent while preserving the human element of umpiring. If it goes well, however, the need for human umpires could soon diminish.

UNPACKING MUSK’S BOLD “AGI” COMMENT 🤖
I now think @xai has a chance of reaching AGI with @grok 5. Never thought that before.
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk)
6:36 AM • Sep 17, 2025
What happened? Elon Musk suggested this week that xAI’s next large language model, Grok 5, could reach artificial general intelligence (AGI).
Crispy fact: AGI refers to an AI system capable of performing a wide range of tasks with human-level intelligence, including reasoning, learning, and problem-solving across different domains.
Why? Musk’s comment followed Grok 4’s strong showing on the ARC-AGI benchmark, where it outperformed rivals like OpenAI’s ChatGPT in problem-solving and program synthesis.
Why does this matter? AGI represents a huge leap beyond today’s AI, aiming for human-level reasoning across a wide range of tasks. Still, AI projects of all kinds have often been overhyped and failed to deliver. So the real test will be whether Grok 5 can live up to Musk’s bold claims. If it does, in fact, achieve AGI, the breakthrough will undoubtedly be significant. But ultimately, the proof will be in the pudding.
