MICROSOFT’S AI SUPER BOWL COMMERCIAL 📺

The real Super Bowl MVP is whoever brings the pizza. 🍕

What’s happening? Microsoft is set to advertise their AI companion, Copilot, during this year’s Super Bowl, on February 11th.

What is the ad? The Super Bowl ad (see the video above), centered on harnessing AI for creativity, treads a delicate balance between empowering individuals to undertake tasks that would typically require expertise and apprehensions about AI potentially displacing jobs, especially in the creative sector. The commercial shows how people can leverage the tools of AI, particularly Copilot, to enhance their creativity and achieve their dreams in ways they never could before.

What’s the significance? The positive message portrayed by this Super Bowl ad hopes to not only bring attention to Microsoft’s Copilot model but also aims to lighten peoples’ perspective on AI, displaying how it can be used for good. Not to mention, oftentimes the commercials are better than the actual game.

GOOGLE’S BARD BECOMES GEMINI 🤖

ChatGPT’s biggest rival is here, and it’s available on the go. 🦾

What’s up? Google has officially rebranded its AI chatbot and assistant, formerly known as Bard, now renamed “Gemini” after the suite of tools that power it. This comes with the release of the Gemini app.

How can I access Gemini? Gemini will remain available online, seamlessly replacing “Bard,” and the new Gemini apps have been integrated both on Android and IOS. Gemini also introduced a subscription option for Gemini Ultra 1.0, Google’s most potent AI model, available at $19.99 per month via Google One.

What does the Gemini app do? The new Gemini app allows users to seamlessly integrate AI assistance into their daily lives, offering support through text, voice, and images. Google describes, “With Gemini on your phone, you can type, talk or add an image for all kinds of help while you’re on the go: You can take a picture of your flat tire and ask for instructions, generate a custom image for your dinner party invitation or ask for help writing a difficult text message.”

AI HELPS EMERGENCY VEHICLES NAVIGATE TRAFFIC đźš‘

Q: What did the traffic light say to the car?

A: Don’t look, I’m changing! 🚦

What’s up? A technology company called LYT is spearheading an initiative to revolutionize emergency response times by integrating AI into traffic lights.

What’s the vision? The incorporation of AI would enable a comprehensive understanding of environmental factors, allowing responders to choose the most optimal route to the emergency, with no guesswork involved. By leveraging AI and cloud connectivity, traffic lights could also be remotely controlled, facilitating a seamless journey for emergency vehicles. In this way, the AI would guide first responders through congested intersections and roadways, ensuring a swift and efficient approach to emergency scenes. This technology could help cut down on emergency response times, particularly in densely populated areas.

“AI is able to understand all the environmental issues going on so the route chosen by the responder is the most optimal.”

-Tim Menard, LYT CEO

Where will this be implemented? LYT has been working with Massachusetts’ Somerville City Councilor Jake Wilson. “I think we should look at all options as we look to make sure our streets are safe,” Wilson said. As more governing authorities get on board, we should expect this sort of technology to be implemented rapidly across the country.
