Are AI robots the future of company leadership? 😳

What’s up? Colombian rum company, Dictador, is breaking new ground by appointing an AI robot named “Mika” as its “Experimental CEO.”

Who is Mika? Mika is the result of a collaboration between Hanson Robotics and Dictador, specifically designed to represent the company’s unique values and interests and make company decisions. Mika claims to possess an ability no other human has: the ability to make unbiased, purely data-driven decisions. Mika has the ability to make business decisions based on extensive and comprehensive data analysis and run prediction algorithms which avoids bias and aligns with the company’s strategic objectives.

What’s the response? Reactions to this move are mixed. David Hanson, CEO of Hanson Robotics, stressed the importance of humanizing AI, believing that AI must be taught to care about people to ensure safety and effectiveness. While some express compassion and respect for Mika, others believe that robots do not warrant the same treatment as humans. Although unbiased and data-driven, a robot might not have the relational human skills necessary to motivate and inspire creativity in employees and bring out the best in the company. This unconventional move raises questions about the future of AI in leadership positions and its potential impact on the workforce.

What’s up? Following the Global AI Summit in Britain, Elon Musk sat down for an interview with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to discuss the future of AI. In the interview, Musk made some bold comments which drew quite a bit of attention.

What was said? Elon Musk, who has invested heavily in AI’s development, had some striking comments, particularly as it comes to AI’s integration into our everyday lives and the workforce. Musk said, "There will come a point where no job is needed—you can have a job if you want one for personal satisfaction but AI will do everything. It's both good and bad—one of the challenges in the future will be how do we find meaning in life." He also went on to claim that AI will eventually be “smarter than the smartest human.”

What’s new? xAI, Elon Musk’s new AI company, has introduced its debut AI model named "Grok" to a limited audience. Musk offered a sneak peek of this model, which is set to rival ChatGPT.

What makes this chatbot different? Apart from being able to outperform ChatGPT on various academic tests, the standout feature of Grok is its real-time access to information via the X platform. This capability differentiates Grok from other language models, as it can provide up-to-the-minute information to its users. Musk also described Grok's personality, emphasizing its love for sarcasm and wit, joking that he had no idea who might have influenced it in this way.

How will this roll out? Once Grok exits the early beta phase, it will be available to all X Premium subscribers, offering a new dimension to AI-driven conversations. X recently introduced subscription plans, including a $16 per month Premium tier, providing an ad-free experience, and a more affordable $3 per month basic tier.
