EX-CHATGPT DEVELOPER LAUNCHES AI EDUCATION COMPANY 🎓

Q: What is Harry Potter’s favorite subject in school?

A: Spelling. 🪄

What’s up? Ex-OpenAI and Tesla computer scientist Andrej Karpathy announced the launch of Eureka Labs, an AI-integrated education platform.

What’s Eureka Labs? Eureka Labs will allow teachers to design courses with the support of an AI teaching assistant. After the course is created, the AI teaching assistant will guide students through the learning material. The company’s inaugural product, LLM101n, is an undergraduate-level course designed to help teachers train their own systems.

What does this mean? Like the invention of the internet itself, AI is transforming education. For the past two years, criticism has been drawn towards students using ChatGPT and other AI tools to cheat on their assignments. Now, it is time for teachers to find a new way to leverage AI in the classroom and expand learning opportunities and teaching methods.

SAMSUNG’S SKETCH-TO-IMAGE FEATURE OPENS EYES 😳

Source: The Verge (Allison Johnson)

Reality continues to be distorted through our very eyes. 😵‍💫

What’s new? Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 boasts an innovative “sketch-to-image” feature that many believe is the best on the market.

How does it work? The tool is intuitive and easy to use. Users simply draw something, highlight it, and choose from a handful of styles like “3D cartoon” and “illustration” to turn their doodle into something more detailed or life-like. After making a selection on style, the image is sent to the cloud, and after a few moments, a handful of options appear. This allows users to sketch images from scratch or draw into existing photos to place people or objects in the photo that weren’t originally there.

What’s the importance? The potential of Samsung’s “sketch-to-image” feature to bring drawings to life is exciting but also a bit unnerving, as the company plans to bring such AI features to 200 million phones this year. This means any photo can be doctored in seconds with a simple sketch. The only mark AI leaves is a tiny watermark in the corner that can easily be missed or cropped out, deepening the threat of deceptive images.

“The AI-generated elements are incorporated into photos convincingly—scaled and matched to the surroundings in a way that makes them hard to spot as fakes.”

SPOTIFY’S (LESS EXCITING) NEW AI FEATURE 🎧

A great pickup line: Did you see the glitch earlier? You weren’t listed as the top hottest single. 😆

What’s new? Spotify is expanding its “AI DJ” feature by introducing a Spanish-language version.

How does AI DJ work? Launched last year, the AI DJ generates radio-style commentary, offering users engaging context and information about the songs they are listening to. This feature aims to enhance the listening experience and reduce track-skipping by delivering continuous, personalized music recommendations. These recommendations adapt to user preferences, switching genres or artists based on user activity.

What’s the new voice? This new offering features the voice of Spotify’s senior music editor, Olivia “Livi” Quiroz Roa, providing a localized touch. Users can now choose between hearing Livi or Xavier “X” Jernigan, who has been the voice behind the English-language DJ since its launch in February 2023.

What’s the significance? This week, YouTube Music released their “sound search” feature, which allows users to search for songs by humming or singing them. This feature has caught a lot of attention, so Spotify attempted to weather the storm of their competitor by releasing an AI feature of their own. The only problem is, this release pales in comparison to YouTube’s. This reveals how YouTube, given their access to a massive amount data, can better leverage AI on their music platform in a way that is helping them steal significant market share from Apple Music and Spotify, who lag behind in AI integration.
