INTRODUCING CLAUDE SONNET 4.6 🦾
What’s up? Claude has launched Sonnet 4.6, its most capable mid-tier AI model yet, with major upgrades in coding, reasoning, and computer use — plus a massive 1 million token context window.
Fun FryAI fact: Think of a token like a single French fry. One fry by itself isn’t much — but pile up thousands (or millions) of fries and now you’ve got a full meal.
The context window is basically the size of the tray that holds all those fries. A bigger tray (like a 1 million token window) means the AI can keep way more “fries” in front of it at once — so it remembers more of the conversation and can think through bigger, more complex tasks.
Want the details? Sonnet 4.6 is now the default model for free and paid users on Claude’s platform, and it keeps the same pricing as the previous version. The biggest improvement is how well it handles complex work. It writes and edits code more accurately, follows instructions better, and makes fewer mistakes. It can also use a computer more like a human — clicking, typing, and navigating software without needing special connections. Its 1 million token context window means it can read entire codebases, long contracts, or stacks of research papers in one go and reason across all of it. Safety testing shows it remains highly aligned and resistant to common AI attacks.
Why should you care? Performance that once required Claude’s most expensive model is now cheaper and more widely available. For developers, analysts, and everyday users, that means smarter AI tools that can handle longer projects, automate more software tasks, and produce higher-quality results with less frustration.
MICROSOFT AI CEO: “MOST WHITE-COLLAR TASKS WILL BE AUTOMATED IN 18 MONTHS” 🫣
What’s up? Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman says that within the next 18 months, AI will perform most white-collar jobs at a human level.
Want the details? In a recent interview (above), Suleyman predicted that AI systems will soon handle tasks like accounting, legal research, marketing, coding, and project management — basically most work that involves sitting at a computer. He believes rapid growth in computing power will allow AI models to complete professional tasks as well as, or better than, humans. Other tech leaders have made similar warnings, suggesting that entry-level office jobs are especially vulnerable. However, current research shows AI is mostly being used for limited tasks like document review, and in some cases it has even slowed workers down rather than replacing them.
“Most, if not all, professional tasks will be fully automated by AI within the next 12 to 18 months.”
What does this mean? Perhaps Suleyman is right, but perhaps he is wrong. If Suleyman is right, millions of office jobs could change dramatically in a short time. But even if the shift is slower, companies and workers may need to adapt quickly as AI reshapes the future of work.
