CHAT-GPT NOW HAS MEMORY 🧠

I had a really funny joke about memory, but then I forgot about it. 😔

What’s new? OpenAI has announced a new Memory feature for ChatGPT, available to ChatGPT Plus subscribers.

How does it work? Memory allows ChatGPT to store user preferences, queries, and other customizations more permanently, enabling the chatbot to deliver more personalized responses. ChatGPT’s Memory works in two ways: by letting users explicitly tell ChatGPT what to remember and by learning from conversations to tailor future interactions.

What about privacy? This advancement brings ChatGPT closer to being a more effective AI assistant, as it can include remembered user preferences without requiring reminders. However, OpenAI has acknowledged that some users may find this level of personalization concerning, so they have implemented measures to give users control over what ChatGPT retains. Users can review and modify ChatGPT’s memories, even instructing the chatbot to “forget” unwanted details.

A MYSTERIOUS CHATBOT HAS EMERGED 😳

I once solved mystery involving an office worker and a small bag … It was a brief case. 💼

What’s going on? A mysterious AI model called “gpt2-chatbot” appeared suddenly on the Chatbot Arena, and the origin and purpose of this model has sparked rumors far and wide.

What are the rumors? The mystery model has been praised by experts for exceeding GPT-4 in reasoning, math, coding, and more. Sam Altman even tweeted, “I do have a soft spot for gpt-2,” which has caused many people to speculate whether this gpt2-chatbot is an early OpenAI stealth test of GPT-4.5 or GPT-2 with Q*.

“No one knows who made it or what it is, but I have been playing with it a little and it appears to be in the same rough ability level as GPT-4.”

APPLE IS POACHING GOOGLE’S AI EXPERTS 👀

Don’t you love watching big tech companies battle it out? 🥊

What’s happening? Apple has reportedly recruited at least three dozen AI specialists from Google to expand its AI and machine learning operations.

Why? Apple has been making a continued push into the AI space, and this requires that they get more AI experts on board. In order to acquire the people and expertise they need to make a charge in the AI space, they are crossing enemy lines. Many of the former Google employees are being used by Apple to fill expanded offices dedicated to AI work in Zurich, Switzerland, particularly in what they call the "Vision Lab.” The focus of this lab is to design advanced AI models that incorporate text and visual inputs to produce responses to queries.

Why is this important? Apple’s recruitment strategy is part of a larger trend, highlighted by a parallel labor war between OpenAI and Tesla. OpenAI has reportedly been coming after Tesla employees, and Elon Musk has been trying to save them by recruiting them for his own AI company, xAI. These wars underline the value of human expertise to AI development and also show that there are a limited number of highly-trained experts in the space. So whoever wins these recruiting wars will have a massive edge over their competitors.
