GPT-5 CAN NOW INTEGRATE WITH GMAIL AND GOOGLE CALENDAR 📆
What’s new? OpenAI’s newly released GPT-5 now integrates directly with Gmail and Google Calendar.
How does this work? This means ChatGPT can tap into your email and calendar to give you a personalized overview of your day. In its announcement livestream, OpenAI showed how a user could link her accounts and then ask ChatGPT to build a schedule, flag important emails, and summarize upcoming meetings—all without switching apps. Essentially, GPT-5 can act as a digital assistant that organizes your inbox and calendar into one streamlined briefing.
Why should you care? For anyone juggling busy schedules and endless emails, this feature could save time and reduce stress by pulling the most important information together automatically. While the integration is still basic, it hints at a future where AI handles more of the day-to-day logistics of modern life. If you already live in Google’s ecosystem, this could quickly become one of ChatGPT’s most useful tools.
AI IS HELPING PEOPLE FIND THEIR MISSING PETS 🐶
What’s up? Petco’s AI-powered Love Lost system has reunited over 100,000 missing pets with their families.
How does it work? Love Lost is a free nationwide database that uses AI-powered facial recognition to match photos of lost and found pets. Over 3,000 animal shelters automatically upload pictures of the animals in their care, and the platform also pulls in photos from Nextdoor, Neighbors by Ring, and user uploads. Pet owners or finders simply upload a photo, and the AI scans it against thousands of images, flagging the closest matches—often within seconds. The system even works with unregistered microchip numbers, offering another way to connect lost pets with their families.
Why does this matter? Around 10 million pets go missing in the U.S. each year, and microchips alone are controversial and not enough. By uniting shelters, communities, and technology, Love Lost makes reunions faster, easier, and far more likely—turning heartbreaking losses into happy endings.
COULD THIS NEW PROTOCOL END THE COPYRIGHT LAWSUITS? 👨⚖️
What’s new? A group of technologists and major web publishers have launched Real Simple Licensing (RSL), a new system designed to license online data for AI training at scale.
How does it work? RSL creates a standardized way for websites to declare licensing terms in their “robots.txt” files, letting AI companies easily see which content they can use and under what conditions. On the legal side, the RSL Collective acts like ASCAP in music, handling negotiations and royalty payments on behalf of publishers. Big names like Reddit, Yahoo, Quora, and Medium are already backing the effort, giving it real momentum. The goal is to solve one of AI’s biggest problems: the messy, often unlicensed use of online data.
Why does this matter? AI companies face a wave of copyright lawsuits, and without a clear licensing system, the industry could be dragged down by legal battles. If adopted, RSL could provide a fairer balance between AI innovation and creator rights, ensuring people get paid for their content while keeping AI development moving forward.
