MAJOR PUBLISHER TO REPLACE OVER 100 EDITING JOBS WITH AI 📖

One of the most prevalent concerns regarding the rapid growth of AI is its potential to replace human jobs. This time, it’s the editors that are being given the ax. 🙅‍♂️

What’s up? Bild, a German tabloid owned and operated by the major European publishing house Axel Springer, is expected to replace more than 100 editorial positions formerly held by humans.

Who is being replaced? Those expected to be replaced by AI include editors, print production staff, subeditors, proofreaders, and photo editors. The publishing company believes these jobs can be automated quite easily by the use of AI.

What does this mean for the future? Editorial jobs seem to be a target for publishing companies looking to cut costs, as AI has shown immense strength in this area, though many believe it will need to improve in areas of citation and fabrication. This certainly will not come without some backlash from governing committees, writers, and human editors, but nonetheless AI will undoubtedly change how the editing process is done.

AMAZON’S $100M AI PROGRAM 🦾

I am hungry for french fries, and people in the healthcare industry are hungry for AI tools and guidance. Amazon is here to deliver just that. 🤝

What happened? Amazon Web Services (AWS), the cloud computing division of Amazon, has announced a $100 million generative AI program called AWS generative AI, which is aimed at driving innovation in the healthcare sector.

What is the purpose? AWS Generative AI seeks to empower healthcare organizations and researchers with cutting-edge AI tools and resources that can be used to tackle complex challenges and drive advancements in patient care, medical research, and drug discovery. Through the program, AWS aims to make generative AI technologies more widely available and easier to adopt in healthcare settings. Matt Garman, senior vice president of sales, marketing and global services at AWS, said, "Customers around the globe are hungry for guidance about how to get started quickly and securely with generative AI." That is what AWS is planning to provide.

CAN AI STOP THE EFFECTS OF AGING? 🤯

Father time has met his match, and it is not Botox … it is AI. 🦾

What’s up? Scientists are using machine learning to develop a chemical compound that could significantly reduce the effects of aging.

How does it work? Scientists utilized a sophisticated machine learning system that was trained on extensive datasets encompassing various chemicals and their impacts. Utilizing this base of knowledge, these models were able to anticipate the potential of various chemical combinations to enhance the lifespan of a translucent worm that shares a similar metabolic process with humans.

What does this mean? This remarkable machine learning model holds promising implications, as further development in this area may eventually aid in the identification of compounds that have the potential to preserve youthful appearances in humans. In other words, AI might unlock the ever-so-elusive fountain of youth. ⛲️
