META UNVEILS TEXT-TO-VIDEO MODEL 🎥
Q: What is Mark Zuckerberg’s favorite cheese?
A: Feta. 🧀
What’s new? Meta has unveiled Movie Gen, an AI-powered video generator, capable of producing high-definition video complete with sound.
How does it work? Movie Gen uses text prompts to create or edit video content, incorporating AI-generated audio to match visuals with sound effects, ambient noise, and music. The tool can create videos from text as well as modify existing footage or still images, enabling seamless transformations, such as changing backgrounds or adding new elements.
“Our latest research breakthroughs demonstrate how you can use simple text inputs to produce custom videos and sounds, edit existing videos or transform your personal image into a unique video.”
What’s the catch? Though impressive, Meta has not yet released Movie Gen to the public, citing cost and slow generation times as current limitations. This tool now joins OpenAI’s text-to-video model, Sora, which was released to a select beta group earlier this year. Nonetheless, public releases of such models is likely inevitable, pending solutions to copyright infringement concerns.
SEARCH GOOGLE WITH VIDEOS 🤯
I just left a Google review of the sun. I gave it one star. ☀️
What’s up? Google has introduced a new feature via Google Lens, allowing users to search not just through text and pictures, but also by video.
How does it work? Available via Search Labs on Android and iOS, users can now record what they see and ask questions using their voice, receiving AI-generated search results and overviews based on the video’s content and query. For example, if you're at an aquarium and curious why fish are swimming together, you can record a video, ask your question, and receive an AI-powered response. Additionally, Lens now allows users to ask questions about photos via voice, a feature previously limited to typing queries.
What else? In addition to video search, Google is working on releasing Circle to Search and Hum to Search. Gone are the days of traditional searching through text—searching the internet is slowly but surely, becoming a multimodal operation.
CHATGPT’S NEW INTERFACE FOR WRITING AND CODING 👨💻
“OpenAI” continues to “open eyes.” 👁️
What’s new? OpenAI has introduced “canvas,” a new interface for ChatGPT that enhances user interaction for writing and coding projects.
How does it work? Launched in beta for ChatGPT Plus and Teams users, canvas offers a separate workspace window alongside the traditional chat. This allows users to seamlessly adjust parts of ChatGPT’s responses without having to type a new prompt entirely. This makes using ChatGPT for coding and writing a whole lot easier. Canvas also includes a menu with shortcuts to help with writing and coding tasks.
Writing shortcuts include:
Suggest edits: ChatGPT offers inline suggestions and feedback.
Adjust the length: Edits the document length to be shorter or longer.
Change reading level: Adjusts the reading level, from Kindergarten to Graduate School.
Add final polish: Checks for grammar, clarity, and consistency.
Add emojis: Adds relevant emojis for emphasis and color.
Coding shortcuts include:
Review code: ChatGPT provides inline suggestions to improve your code.
Add logs: Inserts print statements to help you debug and understand your code.
Add comments: Adds comments to the code to make it easier to understand.
Fix bugs: Detects and rewrites problematic code to resolve errors.
Port to a language: Translates your code into JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java, C++, or PHP.
