APPLE TO RELEASE CUSTOMIZABLE EMOJIS AND MORE 😃
Even the emojis are scared of AI! See: 😬😱🫣
What’s going on? Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is next month, and the company is expected to unveil its latest AI advancements.
What will they announce? Apple’s AI enhancements will focus on integrating AI into existing features like emoji creation, photo editing, messaging, and email. Notably, Apple's AI will allow users to “create custom emojis on the fly, based on what users are texting.” These updates, part of an initiative known internally as Project Greymatter, aim to refine functionalities such as voice memo transcription, faster search capabilities, and a more conversational Siri, all operating independently of an internet connection. The new AI capabilities will debut in iOS 18 and MacOS 15, with Siri upgrades also appearing on the Apple Watch.
What does this mean? OpenAI and Google have recently rocked the AI world with the release of GPT-4o and enhanced AI search features, respectively. Apple is following it up with routine AI updates and … emojis. Many are concerned that, despite massive AI investment recently, Apple is still trailing behind their tech counterparts significantly.

What’s that smell? Oh, never mind—it’s just Elon Musk. 👃
What’s new? Elon Musk’s xAI has secured $6 billion in a Series B funding round, marking one of the largest funding efforts of all time in the AI sector.
Who funded the effort? The funding was raised from major investors including Valor Equity Partners, Vy Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Sequoia Capital, Fidelity, Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal, and Kingdom Holding. This aligns with earlier reports suggesting xAI was aiming for a $6 billion raise, confirming a pre-money valuation of $18 billion.
What’s the money for? With the new funds, xAI plans to enhance infrastructure, accelerate research and development, and seek partnerships to extend Grok’s reach beyond X. As part of an effort for AI to surpass human cognitive capacities by the end of 2025, Musk is also looking to build a “Gigafactory of Compute,” a supercomputer which will be used to train Grok 3.0 with 100,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs.
