Anthropic is giving back

This link leads to one of the most interesting things I’ve seen in AI recently.

What’s cookin’? Anthropic is committing part of its own company to a new Public Benefit Fund designed to grow as Anthropic becomes more valuable. It plans to contribute 5% of its shares initially, with the board able to add another 2% for every 50% increase in the company’s valuation above a set baseline. The fund could support nonprofits, scientific work, or even direct payments to people affected by AI-driven disruption. Combined with earlier pledges from founders and employees, Anthropic says roughly 20% of its shares are now dedicated to public benefit.

🤔 Hunter’s take: I like to see this. It’s interesting because Anthropic is tying its success to the problems that success might create. That doesn’t solve the disruption problem, but it creates a built-in mechanism for sharing some of the upside.

What’s cookin’? OpenAI is rolling out ChatGPT Slides, a new way to build, edit, and present full slide decks without leaving ChatGPT. You can start with a conversation, outline, files, or an existing presentation, then have ChatGPT create slides, rewrite text, generate images, build charts, and adjust the layout. Teams can also work together on the same deck, leave comments, and ask ChatGPT to make revisions. When it’s finished, the presentation can be shown inside ChatGPT or exported to PowerPoint, PDF, or Google Slides. The feature is initially rolling out to eligible Pro, Business, and Enterprise users with Space access.

🤔 Hunter’s take: This is bigger than “AI makes slides.” Presentations are usually a messy chain of writing, designing, reviewing, editing, and reformatting. ChatGPT is trying to collapse that entire workflow into one place. PowerPoint probably isn’t disappearing, but the blank-slide-and-build-it-yourself era might be.
