RUNWAY INTRODUCES “FRAMES” 🖼️
Introducing Frames: An image generation model offering unprecedented stylistic control.

Q: What do you call a plane that bounces off a runway?
A: A Boeing. 🛩️
What’s new? Runway AI has launched Frames, an image generation model focused on stylistic consistency.
How does it work? Unlike existing models that often struggle to maintain a coherent style across variations, Frames excels at generating images with consistent aesthetics while allowing for creative tweaks. Runway describes Frames as a tool that lets creators choose a specific style—such as 1980s special effects, 1970s album art, or Japanese zines—and reliably produce variations true to that aesthetic. Frames will be gradually introduced through Runway's Gen-3 Alpha video suite and API.
“With Frames, you can begin to architect worlds that represent very specific points of view and aesthetic characteristics.”
AI MODEL ACCURATELY PREDICTS FLOODING 🌊
My town almost faced a major flood, but the storm just “mist” us. 🙃
What’s up? MIT scientists have developed a tool to help communities prepare for hurricanes by visualizing potential flooding.
How does it work? The method, called the “Earth Intelligence Engine,” combines AI with a physics-based flood model. Through this approach, the research team has been able to create realistic satellite images showing how a storm might impact a region. As a test, researchers applied the method to Houston, generating images of flooding similar to what occurred during Hurricane Harvey in 2017. These AI-generated visuals closely mirrored real post-storm satellite images.
Why is this important? By combining science and technology, this innovation could become a vital tool for improving public readiness and saving lives in the face of climate disasters. If this approach continues to prove reliable, it could inform decisions about where to allocate resources and could guide residents in deciding whether or not they should evacuate.
“We can’t wait to get our generative AI tools into the hands of decision-makers at the local community level, which could make a significant difference and perhaps save lives.”
TRUMP EYES FIRST-EVER AI CZAR 🤖
You think we would dare to make a joke about politics? 😆
What’s happening? U.S. President-elect Donald Trump is exploring the idea of appointing an AI czar to oversee federal policies on AI. This new role would aim to position the U.S. as a global leader in AI while coordinating public and private sector efforts.
Why? This position is part of an effort to ensure the government is using AI to optimize its operations, position the U.S. as a world leader in tech, and ensure the safety of the public. AI is transforming almost every industry, from transportation to healthcare, and the federal government has growing needs for its integration. A White House AI czar could guide agencies in deploying AI efficiently and addressing issues like entitlement fraud and waste. The position would also play a crucial role in working with tech leaders and other government leaders to develop safe and responsible regulations for development and use.
Who will it be? Despite what many may think, Elon Musk will most likely not be appointed to this role. However, Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, who are leading Trump's new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), will have significant input into who gets the role.
