A NEW MICROSCOPE AIDS CANCER DETECTION 🔬

It’s great to see people working together to do great things! It’s like salt and pepper working together to perfectly season a crispy French fry. 🍟

What’s new? A revolutionary tool, known as an Augmented Reality Microscope (ARM), is an AI-powered microscope developed by Google and the U.S. Department of Defense. It can swiftly and accurately identify cancerous regions and assess their severity, offering a second opinion for pathologists.

How will it work?  Initial research has shown promise, particularly in detecting breast cancer metastasis. However, further testing and evaluations are still necessary before the ARM can be employed in clinical settings. Currently, there are 13 ARMs in existence, with potential applications in remote labs and pathology training. While it won't replace digital pathology systems, the ARM streamlines the diagnostic process and reduces storage costs. At a price range of $90,000 to $100,000, it presents a feasible investment for health systems.

What’s next? The federal government's healthcare systems have millions of patients enrolled, making it the possessor of the most extensive healthcare dataset globally. The development of this microscope is an example of how government agencies and tech companies can work together to leverage the power of AI for good.

GOOGLE’S BARD GETS MAJOR UPGRADES 🦾

Google is adding some new seasoning to its most advanced AI model! 🧂

What’s new? Google’s Bard, released six months ago, has just received a bunch of new updates. These changes will give Bard access to Google's extensive suite of tools, including YouTube, Google Drive, Google Flights, and more, enabling it to assist users in a broader spectrum of tasks.

What are the updates? By granting Bard access to Google's other tools, it enables the model to assist users in a broader spectrum of tasks, offering a one-stop solution to a variety of tasks. For example, users can now ask Bard to plan trips with real flight options or request summaries of meeting notes stored in their Google Drive documents. The updates also extend beyond integration with other Google services. Bard can now communicate in multiple languages, and has a "double check" button that allows users to assess the accuracy of Bard's responses. This feature addresses the issue of AI "hallucinations" by highlighting where Bard's responses align with or deviate from Google Search results. Furthermore, Bard now enables users to share conversations with others, fostering collaboration and expanding the chatbot's utility.

AI IS DETERMINING RENTAL RATES 🏠

Q: How many ants does it take to rent a house?

A: Tenants. 🐜

What’s up? In some regions, like Northwest Florida, rental rates are now being determined by advanced AI software, ushering in what could be the future of apartment leasing and hunting.

How does this work? One rental software making waves is YieldStar by RealPage. This cutting-edge technology analyzes a wide range of customer data to set competitive rent prices. Dr. Rick Harper, an economic advisor with Triumph Gulf Coast, believes this tool can be helpful for property owners and tenants alike. He said, "It affects renters by letting them have information, and it also kind of normalizes rent across the market so that you don't have complexes that are priced too high and experience vacancies priced too low and are chock-full all the time." This can help landlords charge competitive prices and also help renters from getting price gouged.
