F1 TEAMS ARE USING AI TO GO FASTER 🏎️
AI has a need for speed! ⚡️
What’s up? Legendary Formula One (F1) racing teams, like McLaren, are using AI to gain a competitive edge on the track.
How? AI is being used to run tests on cars and analyze vast amounts of data to optimize performance. One standout innovation is the use of generative AI to simulate race scenarios. These tools help teams like McLaren predict outcomes, such as optimal pit stop timing and tire choices, with remarkable accuracy. Beyond race day, AI powers “digital twins”—virtual models of cars—enabling teams to test performance under various road and weather conditions, without ever needing to touch the asphalt. This competitive edge is super important in a sport where a tenth of a second can be crucial to winning or losing.
“By adopting this tech, we are going to be able to free up multiple engineers so they can focus more acutely on car performance.”
DONALD TRUMP NAMES AI TEAM 🤖
Q: What is the capital of Washington?
A: W! 🏛️
What’s new? Donald Trump has named more leaders for the Presidential Council of Advisers on Digital Assets and Technology, a team meant to promote technological innovation and governance.

IS CLAUDE THE GOLD STANDARD? 🥇
Q: Did you know workers in the garbage industry don’t receive any training?
A: They just pick it up as they go along. 🗑️
What’s going on? Google contractors working on the company’s Gemini AI model have been evaluating its performance by comparing outputs to Anthropic’s Claude. This, however, raises questions about whether Google has permission to use Claude in this manner.
Want the details? Contractors working on Gemini score the LLM’s responses based on criteria such as truthfulness and verbosity, taking up to 30 minutes per prompt. This feedback helps developers at Google improve the model. Recently, these workers noticed references to Claude in Google’s internal evaluation platform. One of these Gemini outputs explicitly stated: “I am Claude, created by Anthropic.”
Why is this significant? This practice has raised questions about whether Google obtained Anthropic’s permission, as Claude’s terms of service forbid its use to develop competing AI models without approval. Google denies using Claude to train Gemini, stating the comparisons are part of standard evaluation practices. Another implication of this activity, however, is that Google chose to compare Gemini’s outputs to Claude, and not ChatGPT, Meta AI, or others. This indicates how expert developers view Claude as the gold standard of LLMs, despite the public attention being given largely to ChatGPT.
“Of course, in line with standard industry practice, in some cases we compare model outputs as part of our evaluation process. However, any suggestion that we have used Anthropic models to train Gemini is inaccurate.”
