APPLE INTELLIGENCE (FINALLY) COMES TO YOUR IPHONE 📲
👁️❤️🤖.
What’s new? Apple has introduced iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2, bringing exciting advancements in Apple Intelligence to mobile devices.
What are the new features?
Genmoji: Generate custom emojis through simple descriptions or photos for unique communication.
Image Playground: Create custom images with themes and styles for conversations or presentations.
Writing Tools: Leverage intuitive writing features like “Describe Your Change” for dynamic text edits.
Visual Intelligence: Learn about your surroundings instantly by pointing your camera at objects.
What else? In addition to the above features, Apple is expanding language support for its AI tools and maintaining a strong commitment to privacy with on-device processing and secure cloud computing. These updates demonstrate Apple’s dedication to innovation while safeguarding user data. More features are set to launch in the coming months, such as an upgraded version of Siri.
Why is this significant? Apple highly touted their AI features earlier this year, which were supposed to come in September with the release of the iPhone 16. In reality, however, the iPhone 16 barely possessed any of them. Many were disappointed with Apple’s inability to deliver on their promises. This new update finally represents some tangible progress made by the Apple team to bring AI to mobile devices.
CHATGPT SEES WHAT YOU SEE 👁️
OpenAI continues to impress with the 12 Days of OpenAI! 🎄
What’s new? OpenAI has released real-time video analysis for ChatGPT, a feature previewed nearly seven months ago.
How does it work? Users can access this new feature through Advanced Voice Mode on the ChatGPT app. This allows users to point their phone cameras at objects for near-instant analysis. In an OpenAI demo (above), this vision tool walked a user through how to make coffee, giving constructive guidance to the user by watching their actions. This new feature can also interpret what is on a device’s screen via screen sharing. This allows ChatGPT to “see what you see.” Whether explaining settings or solving math problems, ChatGPT’s capabilities now go beyond mere text and voice interaction.
How can I use it? As of now, this feature is only available to ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Pro subscribers. To activate it, tap the voice icon in the ChatGPT app, then the video icon. For screen sharing, use the three-dot menu and select “Share Screen.”
GOOGLE INTRODUCES GEMINI 2.0 🤖
Q: Where is the best place to hide your secrets?
A: Page two of Google. 😆
What’s new? Google has introduced Gemini 2.0, the latest iteration of its flagship AI model.
Want the details? Currently available in an experimental preview, Gemini 2.0 introduces features like generating audio and images, as well as enabling agent-based AI systems. These “agents” can perform tasks independently, such as helping you find lost items or navigate your browser for you. One example is Project Astra, which helps users navigate the world visually, and another is Project Mariner, a browser assistant that operates autonomously. Gemini 2.0 will power tools like Google Search, Workspace, and even gaming assistants.
“Today’s releases mark a new chapter for our Gemini model. With the release of Gemini 2.0 Flash, and the series of research prototypes exploring agentic possibilities, we have reached an exciting milestone in the Gemini era. And we’re looking forward to continuing to safely explore all the new possibilities within reach as we build towards AGI.”
