PODCAST ADS ARE A THING OF THE PAST 👋

Tired of podcast ads? AI is getting rid of them. 🙅‍♂️

What’s new? Auddia Inc. is set to revolutionize the podcasting experience with the introduction of its groundbreaking commercial-free podcasting technology, to be released on January 15, 2024. Faidr subscription users will enjoy ad-free listening to 200 top podcasts, totaling over 50,000 episodes, without any commercial interruptions.

How does it work? The technology, combining Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Auddia's proprietary AI audio-classification algorithm, effortlessly removes ads, introducing a new high-margin subscription revenue stream. The innovative approach involves creating episode transcripts during the ad-removal process, enhancing user experience by allowing keyword searches within transcripts for a more dynamic and interactive listening experience.

OPEN-AI’S SECRET PROJECT 😳

Secrets, secrets, are no fun … Secret secrets get CEOs fired and rehired. 😅

What’s up? OpenAI, amidst the firing and re-hiring of CEO Sam Altman, faced internal turmoil as multiple employees expressed safety concerns about a project called Q*. This project raised worries about the capabilities of a new AI algorithm and the company’s rapid commercialization efforts.

What is the secret project? Q* (pronounced Q-Star) could represent a significant advancement in the company’s quest for artificial general intelligence (AGI). AGI, as defined by OpenAI, involves autonomous systems that outperform humans in a wide range of economically valuable tasks. The leaked source, speaking on the condition of anonymity due to a lack of authorization to represent the company, revealed that the new model, leveraging extensive computing resources, demonstrated the capability to solve specific mathematical problems. While its proficiency was limited to tasks equivalent to those of grade-school students, the successful handling of such challenges has instilled a high level of optimism among researchers regarding Q*’s potential.

18 COUNTRIES SIGN AI SAFETY AGREEMENT 📝

Another document was signed about regulation … blah blah blah. Was any step really taken? Or will these delays in regulation be detrimental? 🤖

What’s up? The United States, Britain, and 16 other nations have introduced what is being hailed as the first comprehensive international agreement on ensuring the safety of AI systems.

What is the agreement? The 20-page document emphasizes the need for companies to adopt a "secure by design" approach, aiming to protect the public from potential misuse of AI technologies. While the agreement is non-binding, it outlines key recommendations such as monitoring AI systems for abuse, safeguarding data integrity, and scrutinizing software suppliers.

“This is the first time that we have seen an affirmation that these capabilities should not just be about cool features and how quickly we can get them to market or how we can compete to drive down costs. [The guidelines] represent an agreement that the most important thing that needs to be done at the design phase is security.”

—Jen Easterly, director of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency

What is the significance? The rise of AI has prompted fears of its potential misuse, from disrupting democratic processes to exacerbating fraud and causing widespread job losses. While Europe leads in AI regulations, the U.S. and other countries face challenges in enacting comprehensive legislation. This new international agreement represents a step toward shaping responsible AI development on a global scale, underscoring the global recognition of the imperative to address AI safety concerns collectively.
