What’s cookin’? OpenAI is rolling out texting for its Dot personal AI agents, letting users message their agent through iMessage or RCS. You can send texts, photos, and voice messages, and your Dot can also text you with updates about work you’ve assigned it. The big idea is continuity: your Dot remembers relevant context across ChatGPT, texting, Slack, Teams, and other connected channels, so switching where you talk to it doesn’t mean starting over.
🤔 Hunter’s take: This sounds like a small feature, but it changes the feel of AI. Instead of opening an app and consciously “using ChatGPT,” your agent starts living where your normal conversations already happen. That lowers the friction dramatically. If AI agents are eventually going to feel less like software and more like persistent assistants, texting them may be one of the most natural steps yet.
What’s cookin’? Anthropic is pushing Claude deeper into the legal world with tools designed specifically for lawyers and legal teams. Claude can review contracts, compare agreements, track regulatory changes, flag risky language, and even redline documents directly inside Microsoft Word. It can also connect to legal platforms like iManage, Ironclad, Bloomberg Law, and Everlaw, allowing it to pull information from the systems lawyers already use. Anthropic says lawyers should remain in control, with Claude handling more of the repetitive first-pass work.
🤔 Hunter’s take: Legal work is a great test for how far AI can really go. Lawyers deal with long documents, tiny details, and mistakes that can cost millions. If AI becomes reliable enough to handle that environment, “AI assistant” starts underselling what these systems are becoming. But we need to be very careful about how much AI is “helping” vs. how much AI is actually “doing” when it comes to stuff that can change the course of someone’s entire life.
