THE CREATION OF AN AI GYM 🦾

Q: Why do hamburgers go to the gym?

A: To get better buns. 🍔

What’s new? An AI gym has officially opened its doors in Jacksonville, FL promising a workout experience like no other.

How does it work? The Exercise Coach, located at 6100 Greenland Road, suite #802, boasts exercise equipment equipped with AI that tailors your workout based on your individual strength level. Co-owner Chaz Repak explains, “These machines are aware of your level of strength and using artificial intelligence, they work with you in real time to challenge you constantly.” As users engage in each exercise, a screen displays a graph, challenging users to exert the precise amount of strength needed to stay within the optimal workout zone.

What’s the significance? This innovative approach to fitness not only adds a high-tech twist to traditional workouts but also signifies a new era in the integration of AI into our daily lives.

AI COMEDY SPECIAL FACES LAWSUIT 👨‍⚖️

Lawsuits are not a laughing matter … unless they are about comedy specials? 🤔

What’s new? The estate of the comedy legend George Carlin has taken legal action against Dudesy, a media company that utilized AI to produce a comedy special mimicking Carlin's iconic style.

What happened? If you don’t remember our update from a few weeks ago, Dudesy released an AI-generated comedy special called, “George Carlin: I'm Glad I’m Dead.” The performance was an impersonation meticulously crafted by the AI after studying Carlin’s extensive material. Addressing pertinent topics like mass shootings, the American class system, streaming services, social media, and even AI itself, the digital Carlin humorously asserts that stand-up comedy might be the job most threatened by AI.

What’s the lawsuit? The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles, demanded the immediate removal of the video and is seeking unspecified damages. Dudesy, primarily a podcast platform run by comedian Will Sasso and writer Chad Kultgen, claims to have employed AI to generate new material based on Carlin’s recorded works, which are publicly available. They also point out that the special was not meant to deceive anyone, but rather was meant to be a tribute Carlin’s legacy. The lawsuit highlights major questions in this debate and underscores concerns about the misuse of AI, with the plaintiffs’ attorney emphasizing the need for control to prevent infringement on intellectual property rights.

NEW IBD DRUG CREATED BY AI 💊

I bought some shoes from a drug dealer. I don’t know what he laced them with, but I've been tripping all day. 👞

What’s new? Insilico Medicine, a Hong Kong and New York-based AI-driven biotech company, has introduced a promising solution to inflammatory bowel disease (IBD): ISM5411, an AI-designed drug currently in Phase I clinical trials.

What’s the new drug? IDB affects 1.6 million Americans, causing symptoms like abdominal pain, diarrhea, and weight loss. This new drug, currently undergoing trials in Australia, exhibits an oral, gut-specific mechanism, offering an alternative targeted at the source of the problem rather than existing treatments which primarily treat only symptoms.

How was AI used? The Insilico team used Chemistry42, the company's generative AI chemistry engine, to create this new molecule. Alex Zhavoronkov, PhD, founder and CEO of Insilico Medicine, said, You can think of Chemistry42 as a ChatGPT for new molecules. But instead of providing text commands and having an AI model generate a new essay or poem based on existing data, our platform draws from biological and chemical data to design an entirely new molecule using our instructions." Zhavoronkov explained the process as follows: “Our AI platform designed a number of possible molecules to meet our criteria, and ranked them, and our R&D team synthesized and tested a number of these before selecting ISM5411 as the most promising candidate.”
