WHY IS EVERYONE TALKING ABOUT OPENCLAW? 👾

Image: OpenClaw

What’s happening? A new open-source AI agent called OpenClaw is spreading fast across the globe, sparking excitement and concern in equal measure.

Want more details? OpenClaw is a powerful AI assistant that runs directly on users' devices, connecting to language models like ChatGPT or Claude to automate real-world tasks—managing emails, browsing the web, scheduling meetings, and more. What sets it apart is its “persistent memory,” allowing it to adapt to user habits over time. While it requires some technical know-how to install, its open-source code means anyone can inspect or improve it, which has fueled rapid growth on platforms like GitHub and across countries like the U.S. and China.

Why does this matter? OpenClaw shows how AI is evolving beyond chatbots into full-service digital assistants. Tools like this could eventually run entire businesses—or wreak havoc if misused.

SPACEX IS PLANNING A DATA CENTER … IN SPACE 🪐

What’s going on? SpaceX has filed plans to launch up to one million satellites to create a massive space-based data center designed to power AI. This plan comes alongside news that SpaceX, owned by Elon Musk, has officially acquired xAI, his AI company.

How would this work? The proposed system would place solar-powered satellites in low-Earth orbit—between 500 and 2,000 kilometers up—where they’d form a giant AI computing network. SpaceX hasn’t shared many technical details, but says these satellites would operate in underused altitudes and stay in sunlight longer to maximize energy. This marks a huge expansion beyond Starlink, SpaceX’s existing internet satellite network, which already dominates space traffic.

“The capabilities we unlock by making space-based data centers a reality will fund and enable self-growing bases on the Moon, an entire civilization on Mars and ultimately expansion to the Universe.”

-Elon Musk

Why is this significant? If successful, this could dramatically lower the cost of training AI models and give SpaceX and Elon Musk’s AI startup, xAI, a powerful edge. But astronomers are worried. With so many satellites, the skies could get crowded fast—and whoever gets there first could lock out others from prime orbital space. That’s raising serious questions about space governance and fairness.
