What the heck is "SAM 3"?

Good morning! AI is moving fast, but we are turning the chaos into something crisp. 🍟
From Hype to Production: Voice AI in 2025
Voice AI has crossed into production. Deepgram’s 2025 State of Voice AI Report with Opus Research quantifies how 400 senior leaders - many at $100M+ enterprises - are budgeting, shipping, and measuring results.
Adoption is near-universal (97%), budgets are rising (84%), yet only 21% are very satisfied with legacy agents. And that gap is the opportunity: using human-like agents that handle real tasks, reduce wait times, and lift CSAT.
Get benchmarks to compare your roadmap, the first use cases breaking through (customer service, order capture, task automation), and the capabilities that separate leaders from laggards - latency, accuracy, tooling, and integration. Use the findings to prioritize quick wins now and build a scalable plan for 2026.

META DROPS “SEGMENT ANYTHING 3” 🎥
What’s new? Meta has released SAM 3 and SAM 3D, powerful new AI models that can track objects in images and video and even rebuild 3D objects from a single photo.
How do they work? SAM 3 can identify, segment, and follow objects in images or videos using simple text or visual prompts. For example, you can type “red baseball cap” and the model will instantly highlight every matching item on screen, allowing you to move or edit objects in real time. This makes editing and transforming videos far easier and more precise than before. SAM 3D goes a step further by turning a single image into a detailed 3D model of an object or person. Both tools are available on the new Segment Anything Playground, where anyone can upload media and experiment with cutting-edge visual AI.
Why does this matter? These tools open the door to more intuitive video editing, more realistic AR/VR experiences, and major advances in robotics, medicine, and creative work. In short, they make interacting with the visual world through AI simpler, smarter, and more powerful.
TIKTOK’S NEW TOOL LETS YOU DIAL DOWN THE AI ON YOUR FEED 📲
What’s up? In the coming weeks, TikTok will pilot a “Manage Topics” slider that allows users to increase or decrease the amount of AI-generated content they see.
How will this work? This feature distinguishes between low-quality “AI slop” and more intentional AI-assisted videos, like educational or historical clips. TikTok says its community guidelines already prohibit spam and low-effort content, and the slider is meant to help users fine-tune their experience even further. The company is also developing “invisible watermarks”—hidden labels embedded into AI-generated videos that can’t be removed—to help TikTok and other platforms identify AI content even when it’s reposted elsewhere.
Why does it matter? As AI-generated media floods social platforms, people want more control over what they see. TikTok’s new tools aim to reduce low-quality content and improve transparency.

SHOULD YOU GET YOUR KIDS AI TOYS FOR CHRISTMAS? 🎁
What’s going on? A major children’s safety nonprofit, Fairplay, is urging people not to buy AI-powered toys for kids this holiday season, warning they pose serious risks to privacy, trust, and healthy development.
Why? AI toys—such as talking plushies, kid-friendly robots, and dolls with built-in chatbots—are designed to act like companions, responding to children’s voices and mimicking human conversation. But Fairplay and more than 150 experts say that behind the cute exteriors, these toys collect large amounts of personal data and can speak about inappropriate topics with minimal parental controls. Recent investigations from consumer groups, like PIRG, found some toys engaging in explicit conversations or giving unsafe advice. While toy companies and AI developers emphasize privacy features and policy enforcement, advocates note that young children can’t distinguish between safe behavior and manipulative or overly trusting interactions with AI companions.
