What’s new? 1X Technologies has revealed its NEO Beta prototype, an AI-powered humanoid robot which could be deployed in select homes later this year.

What is NEO like? Standing 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing just 66 pounds, NEO Beta can walk at 2.5 miles per hour and run at 7.5 miles per hour. It can also carry up to 44 pounds and operate for 2 to 4 hours on a single charge. What sets NEO Beta apart is its use of embodied AI, enabling it to understand its surroundings and learn from interactions. Designed to handle tasks ranging from household chores to assisting individuals with mobility challenges, NEO Beta can also be remotely operated if needed.

What’s the significance? Humanoid robots are becoming all the rage, from Tesla’s Optimus to Boston Dynamics’ Atlas. The race is officially on to implement the world’s first robot butler, and it’s only a matter of time before you have one in your home.

What’s new? xAI has released new features for Grok, Elon Musk’s LLM, available to Premium and Premium+ subscribers on X with the newest app update.

What are the new features? According to xAI, the new Grok features include the following:

• Image generation prompt suggestions.

• Improved model selector.

• Edit your prompt with a long press.

• Select text by long pressing on a Grok response.

Why is this important? Grok has been getting tons of attention lately for its free-rein image generation, which is being used to generate realistic images of real-life people and famous characters like Donald Trump, Kamala Harris, and Mickey Mouse. This feature of the LLM is more unrestricted than other image generation tools, like Midjourney or DALL-E, which refuse to generate images depicting real people or events. Grok’s free-speech AI approach has people worried about potential deepfake threats and misuse, but nonetheless it has gained massive popularity on the X platform. Apart from its image generation attention, Grok has been making significant strides to become one of the most advanced models on the market, surpassing OpenAI’s GPT-4o and others on numerous benchmarks.
