DELL DIVES HEAD-FIRST INTO AI 💻

Q: What do you call a desktop computer that sings?

A: A Dell. 🎵

What’s new? Dell has unveiled a brand new initiative called the “Dell Generative AI Solutions,” which aims to allow clients to harness the potential of large language models and create generative AI projects.

How will Dell do this? To facilitate the adoption of generative AI, Dell has collaborated with Nvidia, incorporating the Tensor Core GPU and enterprise AI software, bolstering AI model performance. In parallel, the company is introducing new AI-capable computers, boasting compact designs and energy-efficient attributes. To simplify the implementation process, Dell has also implemented Dell Professional Services, a platform meant to guide users in their explorations of generative AI models, offering expert support and issue resolution.

What is the vision behind this? Dell co-COO Jeff Clarke said, “Generative AI represents an inflection point that is driving fundamental change in the pace of innovation while improving the customer experience and enabling new ways to work.” Dell wants to maximize their value given this changing landscape.

META TO RELEASE CHATBOTS WITH PERSONAS 🤖

Social media and AI are continuing to merge into a super-tech monster capable of destroying entire cities and eating everything in sight! … Well, maybe not that far, but you get the point. 🦾

What's going on? Meta, the parent company of Facebook, is gearing up to introduce a diverse range of AI-powered chatbots with distinct personalities, set to launch as early as next month.

Why? This strategic move aims to enhance user engagement on its social media platforms. Led by CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Meta has been diligently developing prototypes of chatbots capable of engaging in human-like conversations with its massive user base, which stands at nearly 4 billion users. These chatbots will embody different characters, such as one prototype which resembled Abraham Lincoln and another offering travel advice in a surfer's style.

What is the point? The implementation of these chatbots will serve several purposes. For starters, the chatbots will introduce a new search function to provide users with better content recommendations. Additionally, they will offer an element of fun and interactivity for users to engage with. Apart from enhancing user engagement, chatbots will enable the collection of extensive user data, giving Meta valuable insights into users' interests. This data-driven approach will help Meta refine its content and advertising targeting, as the majority of its $117 billion in annual revenues come from advertising.

What does this mean? Meta faces stiff competition from social media platforms like TikTok, and this move is aimed at attracting and retaining users. Furthermore, with the increasing buzz around AI in Silicon Valley since the launch of Microsoft-backed OpenAI's ChatGPT, Meta aims to capitalize on this trend.

AI-POWERED CYBERATTACKS RUN RAMPANT 😈

It’s a crazy world out there, so be safe AI-sters. 🙏

What’s happening? As technology advances, so do cybercriminals, and a new concerning trend has emerged in the cybersecurity realm. Recent reports indicate that cyber attackers are, at an all-time high, leveraging AI to train chatbots for sophisticated phishing and malware attacks, the most recent being FraudGPT and DarkBART.

How is this happening? According to BleepingComputer, some of the malicious uses of these AI chatbots are as follows:

  • Creating sophisticated phishing campaigns that target people's passwords and credit card details.

  • Executing advanced social engineering attacks to acquire sensitive information or gain unauthorized access to systems and networks.

  • Exploiting vulnerabilities in computer systems, software, and networks.

  • Creating and distributing malware.

  • Exploiting zero-day vulnerabilities for financial gain or systems disruption.

What can be done? As the cybersecurity landscape evolves, it becomes essential for organizations and individual users alike to stay vigilant against these AI-powered threats. Implementing robust security measures, educating employees about potential risks, and employing AI-based defense strategies will be critical to safeguarding sensitive information and mitigating the impact of AI-driven cyber attacks.
