IS COCA-COLA RUINING CHRISTMAS (AGAIN)? 🎅
What’s up? Coca-Cola has released a new AI-generated Christmas commercial (above) filled with animated critters, continuing its recent trend of replacing its traditional production with generative AI.
Want the details? After backlash last year over stiff animation and strange human faces in last year’s AI-generated commercial, Coca-Cola’s 2025 campaign avoids realistic people altogether—instead featuring a strange mix of animated animals like polar bears and pandas. The animation has drawn mixed reactions. Viewers have pointed out the awkward movements, inconsistent art styles, and a lack of emotional warmth that many associate with Coca-Cola’s classic holiday ads. Although the company fixed some issues—like finally animating the wheels on the iconic Coke trucks—many feel the new commercial still misses the mark visually and emotionally.
Why should you care? For some, the concern isn’t just about the look of the ad, but what it represents: a move away from traditional creative work in favor of faster, cheaper AI production. While Coca-Cola says the process saves time and money, critics worry it’s coming at the cost of the brand’s human touch. With more companies turning to AI, this may be the new normal.

AMAZON TELLS PERPLEXITY TO STOP 🤬
What’s up? Amazon has sent a cease-and-desist letter to Perplexity AI, demanding it stop letting its AI agent, Comet, make purchases on Amazon’s site.
Why? Amazon claims that Perplexity’s tool violates its terms of service by making purchases without clearly disclosing that an AI—not a human—is behind the transaction. Amazon argues that this not only harms the user experience and makes customer interactions difficult for sellers but also poses privacy risks. The letter accuses Perplexity of “computer fraud,” a serious charge in tech circles. Perplexity, meanwhile, says it’s just offering consumers a helpful shopping assistant and believes Amazon is trying to squash a smaller competitor.
KROGER IS BUILDING AN AI SHOPPING ASSISTANT 🍌
What’s new? Kroger and Instacart are teaming up to make grocery shopping smarter and more convenient.
How does this work? Through this partnership, Kroger will offer customers a new AI-powered feature called Cart Assistant on its mobile app. This acts like a smart grocery helper. Instead of just typing in your shopping list or browsing endlessly, you can interact with Cart Assistant more like you’re having a conversation. It can suggest meal ideas based on what you like, help you plan your week’s dinners, and even remember your favorite brands or items to speed up checkout. For example, if you say “Help me plan tacos for dinner,” it might suggest ingredients, add them to your cart, and recommend side dishes or drinks. It’s all personalized, designed to save time, reduce stress, and make shopping feel smoother and smarter.
“Agentic shopping has the potential to change the way American families shop and eat. Interacting with an AI agent makes shopping and meal planning as simple as a conversation, helping customers build their basket or offering meal suggestions, truly understanding what matters most to them. This is one more way Kroger and Instacart are making grocery shopping easy and fun for families across the country, saving them money and time.”
