XAI LAUNCHES GROK 4.1 🦾
What’s new? Grok 4.1 is now available to all users across grok.com, X, and the Grok iOS and Android apps.
Want the details? Grok 4.1 is a major upgrade focused on making the AI feel more natural, perceptive, and emotionally aware. Using the same large-scale reinforcement learning system that powered Grok 4, xAI optimized the model’s style, personality, helpfulness, and alignment. The team also developed new techniques that let advanced reasoning models act as reward models, enabling Grok to evaluate and improve its own responses at massive scale. During a two-week silent rollout, Grok 4.1 was continuously tested in live traffic, where users preferred it over the previous version nearly 65% of the time. It now ranks at the top of major benchmarks for reasoning, creativity, and emotional intelligence.

GOOGLE’S AI MODE CAN PLAN YOUR NEXT TRIP ✈️
What’s new? Google’s AI Mode for search can now plan your trips, find travel deals, and help you book reservations.
How does it work? The new tools use AI Mode and a feature called Canvas to pull together real-time information from flights, hotels, Google Maps, and websites across the internet. You can describe the kind of trip you want—dates, budget, activities—and Canvas instantly builds a customized itinerary, complete with hotel comparisons, restaurant ideas, and activity suggestions. Google is also expanding “Flight Deals,” an AI tool that scans worldwide airfare to find the best bargains based on how and when you want to travel. And with new “agentic” abilities, AI Mode can now search reservation platforms to help you book restaurants, events, and local services, with more booking options coming soon.
Why it matters: Planning a trip is usually time-consuming and stressful. These upgrades let AI handle the tedious work so travelers can discover options faster, save money, and turn plans into real bookings with far less effort.
CALL OF DUTY IS IN HOT WATER FOR AI USE 🎮
What’s up? A US lawmaker is calling for new regulations after players discovered widespread AI-generated artwork in the latest Call of Duty game.
Want the details? Gamers who bought Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 noticed that many in-game icons, posters, and achievement images were created using AI rather than human artists—sparking backlash and claims that the game is filled with “AI slop.” In response, Representative Ro Khanna of California criticized Activision Blizzard for using AI in ways that may replace creative jobs. He argued that artists should have a voice in how AI is used, share in any profits it generates, and be protected from mass job displacement. Other lawmakers are also pushing for transparency laws that would require companies to report AI-related job losses. Meanwhile, some tech leaders argue that AI could actually create new opportunities and help smaller creators compete.
Why does this matter? This debate highlights a growing tension: AI can make game development faster and cheaper, but it may also threaten creative careers. How governments respond could shape the future of digital art, entertainment, and work itself.
