GROK GETS VISION 👁️
GROK CAN SEE WHAT YOU SEE—LITERALLY
Grok’s voice mode comes with camera access, letting users point their phone at something and ask, “What am I looking at?”

Did you hear about the guy who just found out he was color blind? It hit him right out of the purple! 😆
What happened? xAI’s Grok chatbot can now answer questions about whatever your iPhone’s camera sees, thanks to a new feature called Grok Vision.
How does it work? Grok Vision allows users to point their iPhone camera at things like menus, product labels, or documents and ask Grok questions about what’s in view—similar to real-time vision tools offered by Google’s Gemini and OpenAI’s ChatGPT. The feature is currently available only on iOS via the Grok app but will likely expand in the future. Recently, Grok has also gotten other notable updates, such as multilingual audio, real-time search in voice mode, memory for past chats, and a Canvas-like tool for building content.
OPENAI’S NEW MODELS LIE (A LOT!) 😬
Voldemort: “So I just have to lie?”
Pinocchio: “Yep.” 👃
What happened? OpenAI's recently released reasoning models, o3 and o4-mini, demonstrate increased hallucination rates compared to their predecessors.
What are hallucinations? A hallucination is when AI “makes stuff up.” A few months ago, our FryAI team conducted a deep-dive explaining the nature and dangers of hallucinations. If you’re interested, check it out here.
Want the details? Evaluations using OpenAI’s PersonQA benchmark revealed that the o3 model has a hallucination rate of 33%, while o4-mini's rate is 48%. These figures are significantly higher than the 16% rate observed in the earlier o1 model. The increased hallucinations are attributed to the models generating more claims overall, leading to both more accurate and more inaccurate statements. OpenAI acknowledges the issue and is investigating the underlying causes to improve the models’ reliability.
“Addressing hallucinations across all our models is an ongoing area of research, and we’re continually working to improve their accuracy and reliability.”
Why is this significant? As AI systems become more integrated into various applications, ensuring their accuracy is crucial to maintain trust and prevent the dissemination of misinformation.
APPLE GETS IN TROUBLE FOR OVER-HYPING APPLE INTELLIGENCE 😠
An apple a day keeps the AI away. 🍎
What happened? An advertising watchdog has ruled that Apple misled consumers by promoting AI-powered iPhone features that weren’t actually available at the time of the ads.
Want the details? The National Advertising Division, a non-profit focused on “truth in advertising,” said Apple aired a TV commercial touting a more personal Siri and other Apple Intelligence tools as already accessible—when in reality, those features were delayed until later software updates projected for 2026. The ad in question (above), which featured actor Bella Ramsey, premiered in September but was pulled after intense scrutiny. Apple has since changed its marketing to more accurately reflect the availability of its AI features, and it has taken down the “Available Now” statement on its Apple Intelligence webpage.
Fry Guy’s unsalted opinion: Apple Intelligence has been touted over and over as one of the greatest advancements in AI—a smarter Siri, generative emojis, and intuitive photo management—but where is it?! Hopefully, this crackdown on “fake hype” will set a higher standard for these tech companies to deliver on their promised AI features. People are growing tired of getting excited about Apple’s over-hyped AI tools only to find out they have been delayed for another year (or two).
