Voice AI Goes Mainstream in 2025

Human-like voice agents are moving from pilot to production. In Deepgram’s 2025 State of Voice AI Report, created with Opus Research, we surveyed 400 senior leaders across North America - many from $100M+ enterprises - to map what’s real and what’s next.

The data is clear:

  • 97% already use voice technology; 84% plan to increase budgets this year.

  • 80% still rely on traditional voice agents.

  • Only 21% are very satisfied.

  • Customer service tops the list of near-term wins, from task automation to order taking.

See where you stand against your peers, learn what separates leaders from laggards, and get practical guidance for deploying human-like agents in 2025.

GEMINI 3 IS HERE 🤖

What’s up? Google DeepMind has launched Gemini 3, its most advanced AI model yet, designed to help people learn, build, and plan almost anything.

How does it work? Gemini 3 is a multimodal AI, meaning it can understand and work with text, images, video, audio, and code all together. The new Gemini 3 Pro model powers tools across Google products, helping you do things like summarize research papers, turn handwritten recipes into digital cookbooks, or analyze your pickleball game from video. It also introduces a “Deep Think” mode for especially hard reasoning tasks, and a new agentic development platform called Google Antigravity, where AI can act more like a coding partner that plans, writes, and tests software with you.

GOOGLE UPGRADES WEATHER FORECASTING WITH AI 🌦️

What’s up? Google DeepMind has launched WeatherNext 2, a major upgrade to its AI-powered weather forecasting technology.

How does it work? WeatherNext 2 uses a new AI approach called a Functional Generative Network to generate hundreds of realistic weather scenarios from a single starting point. By injecting controlled “noise” into the model, it can produce fast, physically consistent predictions that capture everything from temperature and wind to complex regional weather systems. The system is incredibly efficient—forecasts that once took hours on supercomputers now run in under a minute on a single TPU. Google is also rolling this technology into tools like Earth Engine, BigQuery, and an early-access program on Vertex AI, while upgrading weather data across Search, Gemini, Pixel Weather, and Google Maps.

Fun FryAI Fact: A Functional Generative Network is an AI system that takes one set of information and generates many realistic variations of what might happen next. Imagine you give a chef one potato and ask, “Show me all the different ways fries could turn out.” The chef doesn’t make random nonsense—they make waffle fries, steak fries, shoestring fries, curly fries… all real, coherent versions of fries based on that one potato. WeatherNext 2 works the same way: from one set of weather data, it produces many realistic, interconnected forecasts so we can see all the ways the weather might unfold.

DISNEY PLUS TO GET AI SUPERPOWERS? 🏰

What’s happening? Disney is exploring AI-generated videos and interactive features as part of the future of Disney Plus.

Want the details? During an earnings call, CEO Bob Iger said Disney is “really excited about AI,” suggesting that the technology could let subscribers both create and consume short-form AI videos directly inside Disney Plus. While he didn’t give specifics, this could mean tools that let viewers customize scenes, generate character moments, or make personalized clips using Disney’s vast library. Disney is also considering adding game-like features through its partnership with Epic Games and exploring ways to turn the app into a hub for planning trips to Disney parks, hotels, and cruises.

What does this mean? If Disney fully embraces AI, streaming could shift from passive watching to active creation. That would make Disney Plus more interactive, more personalized, and potentially far more engaging than traditional streaming services.
