HOW FLOSSING COULD SAVE YOU FROM ROBOTS 🦷

I already hate going to the dentist, and now robots are getting thrown into the mix. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want those giant red eyes staring at me while I get my cavity filled! 🤖

What happened? Researchers have discovered that AI technology can significantly improve the creation of dental crowns, offering a promising solution for both dentists and patients.

How does this work? Using AI algorithms, researchers have trained computer models to analyze 3D scans of patients' teeth and design customized dental crowns with exceptional precision. The AI system takes into account various factors, such as tooth shape, size, occlusion, and neighboring teeth alignment to create optimal crowns that fit seamlessly within the patient's mouth.

Why is this important? This breakthrough in AI dentistry holds numerous advantages:

  1. It reduces the time required to design and manufacture dental crowns, allowing for quicker treatment.

  2. The accuracy and consistency achieved through AI technology leads to better-fitting crowns, minimizing the need for adjustments or replacements. This, in turn, reduces costs and improves long-term oral health.

  3. AI dentistry enables a more personalized approach to dental care. By leveraging patient-specific data and AI algorithms, dentists can create crowns tailored to individual needs, ensuring optimal functionality and aesthetics.

  4. The AI system can predict potential issues or complications before they arise, allowing for proactive treatment.

This is most likely just the start of how AI will revolutionize oral care, making it quicker and more affordable. However, if you want to avoid robots at all costs, I recommend you floss your teeth! 🦷

NVIDIA’S NEW SUPERCOMPUTER 🖥

🚨 CAUTION: Computer nerds, beware! We are about to get very nerdy.

What happened? NVIDIA has recently unveiled their latest innovation in the field of AI supercomputing: the DGX-gh200. This groundbreaking AI supercomputer is poised to revolutionize the realm of deep learning.

How does it work?

Section for computer nerds about the supercomputer: This supercomputer features an impressive 600 gigabytes per second (GB/s) of AI performance and an enormous 1.6 terabytes (TB) of GPU memory. The DGX-gh200 allows for large-scale, high-performance training and inference across a wide range of AI applications. It provides the necessary computational resources to accelerate breakthroughs in areas such as natural language processing, computer vision, and autonomous systems. Moreover, the DGX-gh200 incorporates NVIDIA's DGX software stack, which includes the powerful NVIDIA NGC software catalog. This comprehensive software streamlines the AI workflow, offering optimized frameworks, pre-trained models, and powerful development tools to maximize productivity and accelerate AI development.

Section for regular people about the supercomputer: This supercomputer is very fast, has a lot of memory, and can support large-scale AI developments.

What is the purpose? The supercomputer’s primary purpose is to aid tech companies in developing successors to the popular AI chatbot ChatGPT, create complex algorithms for recommendation systems which use available data to recommend products to consumers, and graph neural networks for fraud detection and data analytics. According to the CEO, the first companies to gain access to the supercomputer will be Google, Meta, and Microsoft.

These tech companies are being provided with a tool that will surely advance AI even further. I just hope these tech giants don’t get any fry crumbs in the keyboard … lest AI develops a taste for our salty snacks. 🍟

AI REPLACING IT SUPPORT JOBS 📞

Tired of frustrating customer service calls? The days of IT support in India could soon be over due to the rapidly growing abilities of AI. 📞

What is happening? Generative AI-powered tools like ChatGPT are taking the customer service industry by storm. While IT firms are in a rush to integrate tools like ChatGPT into their AI applications, their human support could come crashing down. Many experts are concerned, likening this technological shift to the Industrial Revolution, calling for necessary upskill by workers to save their jobs. Big companies like IBM have already voiced their stance on such issues, and it is not favorable to support-type jobs. Earlier this month, IBM announced they expect to replace 7,800 jobs and believe up to 30% of non-customer-facing roles will be replaced by automation within the next five years.

Why should you care? The transition from human to AI customer service and support could reduce the amount of time one has to wait on the phone, provide new customer support outlets, and also allow for quicker responses. However, a rational human on the other side of this communication will be lost, and this could make complex problem solving that much more difficult.

No more holding music could be a good thing, but what this surge of AI chatbots means for jobs in one of India’s most lucrative fields is undoubtedly concerning.
