OPENAI INTRODUCES SORA 2 ALONGSIDE NEW TIKTOK STYLE APP 🎥

What’s new: OpenAI has launched Sora 2, an updated version of its highly-touted video and audio generation model, along with a new social app where users can create and share AI-generated videos featuring themselves and friends.

How does it work? Building on the original Sora released in 2024, Sora 2 takes a huge leap in realism and control. Unlike earlier video models that bent reality to fit prompts—like basketballs teleporting into hoops—Sora 2 better respects physics, modeling rebounds, balance, and even mistakes. It can generate cinematic scenes, cartoons, or realistic soundscapes, and users can add themselves into videos through “cameos,” which capture both likeness and voice. The accompanying Sora app lets people create, remix, and share these videos with friends, aiming to make co-creation as natural as sending a message or sharing a social media post.

META WILL PERSONALIZE ADS BASED ON AI INTERACTIONS 🤷‍♂️

Image: Meta AI

What’s going on? Starting December 16, ads and content across Facebook, Instagram, and other apps will be personalized based on how users interact with its Meta AI assistant.

How will this work? Meta AI, which functions like ChatGPT, is built into apps like Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger, and is also available as a stand-alone tool. If you ask Meta AI questions—like how to plan a family vacation—the assistant’s responses can shape the ads and videos you later see. For example, vacation planning chats might trigger ads for hotels or recommendations for travel videos. Both text and voice interactions, including through Meta’s smart glasses, will feed into this system. Users can’t opt out, but if they don’t use Meta AI, the update won’t affect them.

Why does this matter? For users, this means more tailored social media experiences. After all, tailored ads are better than ads you don’t care about. Additionally, this can help companies optimize their ads to reach target audiences. However, this raises fresh questions about privacy and how personal conversations with AI feed into advertising.

NBA PARTNERS WITH AMAZON FOR AI-POWERED STATS 🏀

Image: Amazon

What’s new? The NBA has partnered with AWS to launch NBA Inside the Game, an AI-powered stats and analytics platform debuting in 2025 across the NBA App, NBA.com, and live broadcasts.

How does it work? Built on AWS’s advanced AI infrastructure, the platform uses player tracking data to process movements in real-time and generate new insights into basketball performance. Features include a “Defensive Box Score” that measures defensive impact beyond traditional stats, “Shot Difficulty” metrics that calculate how hard each attempt really is, and “Gravity” stats that capture how much defensive attention a player draws even without the ball. Fans will be able to access these analytics during games on Prime Video, the NBA App, and social platforms, giving them a deeper look at strategy, performance, and player impact.

Why should you care? This partnership reimagines how fans experience basketball. By making advanced analytics accessible in real time, it turns casual viewing into an interactive, educational experience. Fans can better understand what makes elite players special, how strategy unfolds on the court, and why certain plays change a game.
