DHS WARNS OF AI ELECTION INTERFERENCE 🇺🇸

As if this year’s election wasn’t going to be crazy enough … AI is adding a whole new dimension. 😳

What’s the scoop? A recent federal assessment compiled by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) underscores the imminent threat posed by AI to the 2024 election.

What was said? The analysis highlights how AI technologies, while driving progress, also offer avenues for misuse that could undermine the democratic process. With less than six months until Election Day, the report warns that generative AI tools can be exploited by people both domestic and abroad to interfere with elections. Tactics might include “aggravating emergent events, disrupting election processes, or attacking election infrastructure.” AI tools have the power to spread disinformation—such as deepfaked images or audio—to mislead voters and election staff.

What can be done? Experts stress the need for public education and swift, accurate responses from officials to safeguard election integrity. John Cohen, former intelligence chief at the DHS, said, “Law enforcement and our security community have been slow to adapt to this rapidly evolving threat environment. We’re still using the strategies of yesterday to deal with a threat of today. In a way, it's bringing a knife to a gunfight.”

SALESFORCE STUDY SAYS TRUST IS THE KEY TO AI 🙏

Would you do a trust fall with AI? 🤖

What’s up? A Salesforce study called, “Your Data, Your AI” revealed that nearly two-thirds of C-suite executives say trust in AI drives revenue, competitiveness, and customer success.

What else was found? Companies are facing pressure from all sides to integrate AI into their operations. If they don’t, it seems they will lose a competitive edge in the market. The new Salesforce study reflects this desire. However, getting employees on board and trusting AI presents significant challenges. Many don’t believe AI is capable of helping them accomplish tasks. For instance, 56% of AI users say it’s difficult to get what they want out of AI, and 51% of workers say generative AI lacks the information needed to be useful.

Why is this important? Companies are looking for ways to implement AI, but there is still a significant gap in understanding the importance of AI and finding ways to implement it effectively. Furthermore, getting employees to trust the technology remains a significant challenge.

JPMORGAN CHASE TO TRAIN ALL NEW HIRES ON AI 🦾

Q: What did the annoyed woman say to the creditors?

A: “Leave me a loan.” 😆

What’s up? JPMorgan Chase is embedding AI training into the onboarding process for all new banking employees.

How will this work? The new hires will undergo prompt engineering training to prepare for AI’s implementation within the company and its future impact on the industry. Mary Erdoes, head of asset and wealth management at the company, highlighted AI’s dual benefits in this regard: saving time and driving revenue. AI tools have been proven to streamline information retrieval during client calls, cutting down on the time-consuming “hunting and pecking.” Additionally, AI eliminates repetitive tasks, freeing analysts from “no joy work” and saving them 2-4 hours daily. This will free them up for more meaningful tasks.

“This year, everyone coming in here will have prompt engineering training to get them ready for the AI of the future.”

-Mary Erdoes, head of asset and wealth management at JPMorgan Chase

Why is this significant? Training new employees on AI is becoming vital to company success, where AI can be leveraged to optimize a plethora of tasks. This move from JPMorgan Chase, in particular, aligns with earlier comments by CEO Jamie Dimon, where he equated AI with historic innovations like the printing press and steam engine.
