CHATGPT CAN NOW CONTROL YOUR COMPUTER 🦾

I cannot wait to see what AI decides to post on my social media pages. 🙃

What’s new? OpenAI has released Operator, an AI agent that can perform tasks on users’ computers. It is now available for ChatGPT Pro users in the U.S.

How does it work? Powered by a Computer-Using Agent (CUA) model, Operator combines advanced reasoning with the ability to interact with web pages like a human. It can type, click, and scroll while learning from its mistakes to improve. Equipped with its own browser, Operator can visit websites, fill out forms, place orders, and even create memes—all without needing custom integrations. For sensitive actions, like entering payment details, Operator asks users to take over to ensure safety and privacy. The goal of Operator is to simplify repetitive tasks and opens new opportunities for businesses and individual users alike.

“Operator is one of our first agents, which are AIs capable of doing work for you independently. You give it a task and it will execute it.”

Q: How did the phone propose to his fiancé?

A: With a ring. 💍

What’s new? Verizon Business has launched Verizon AI Connect, a comprehensive suite of solutions designed to support businesses deploying AI at scale.

Want the details? As AI evolves, the demand for real-time decision making, or inferencing, is expected to dominate. According to McKinsey, up to 70% of AI workloads will rely on low-latency connectivity and edge computing by 2030. Verizon AI Connect integrates advanced 5G, high-speed fiber, edge computing, and infrastructure like power and cooling to meet these needs. Key partnerships are enhancing this ecosystem. For instance, Verizon is collaborating with Nvidia to optimize GPU-based edge platforms, with Vultr to expand cloud AI capabilities, and with Google Cloud and Meta to improve network performance and predictive AI solutions. Industry leaders like Google Cloud and Meta are already using Verizon’s infrastructure for AI workloads.

“We are seeing significant demand for reliable network infrastructure that can support existing AI workloads. As the technology evolves, our industry leadership, best-in-class edge-to-cloud connectivity, programmable network and assets will enable us to meet these needs and accelerate innovation.”

CHINA’S NEW DEEPSEEK MODEL OUTPERFORMS GPT-4 🙃

Will China surpass the U.S. in AI development, despite restrictions on chips? 🇨🇳

What’s going on? China’s DeepSeek lab released a LLM called DeepSeek V3 that is outperforming America’s best AI models despite being built more cheaply and with less-powerful chips.

Want the details? Despite being cut off from top-tier chips like Nvidia H100s, the Chinese lab has leveraged innovative techniques, such as model distillation, to optimize smaller models at reduced costs. Despite using lower-cost Nvidia H800 chips and spending less than $6 million, DeepSeek’s open-source language model has outperformed leading U.S. models like OpenAI’s GPT-4 and Meta’s Llama 3.1 in benchmark tests, excelling in coding, math, and problem-solving. DeepSeek’s model showcases a level of efficiency that challenges assumptions about the need for costly, high-power data centers and also looks to threaten U.S. dominance in the AI space.

“To see the DeepSeek new model, it’s super impressive in terms of both how they have really effectively done an open-source model that does this inference-time compute, and is super-compute efficient. We should take the developments out of China very, very seriously.”
