APPLE CALLS FOR HELP WITH SIRI 🏳️
Q: I asked Siri why I was still single.
A: She then turned on my front camera. 😔
What’s new? Apple is in talks with OpenAI and Anthropic to finally power a smarter version of Siri.
Want the details? Apple has been promising an upgraded Siri for years, but has been unable to deliver. Internally, Apple is still developing its own AI system—codenamed “LLM Siri”—but progress has reportedly stalled. Now, Apple is testing versions of OpenAI’s and Anthropic’s models on its own cloud systems, aiming to create a more powerful, AI-enhanced Siri experience once and for all. This shift matters because Apple has lagged behind in the AI space while competitors like Google and Microsoft surge ahead. Siri has long been criticized as outdated and clunky compared to newer AI assistants. By teaming up with top-tier AI labs, Apple could finally modernize its digital assistant—and regain ground in the escalating AI arms race. For consumers, this could mean a far more capable Siri arriving on devices—just not as soon as Apple once hoped.
RFK JR. SAYS AI SHOULD PLAY A LARGER ROLE IN DRUG APPROVAL 💊
Soon, AI may (literally) be coursing through your veins! 💉
What’s new? In a recent podcast appearance, U.S. Secretary of Health Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said that AI should play a major role in reforming the U.S. healthcare system, especially by helping the FDA review and approve drugs.
What did he say? Kennedy criticized the current Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS), calling it “designed to fail” and suggesting AI could make it faster and more accurate. He also said the FDA should use AI to speed up drug approvals, eliminating the need for traditional animal testing. He argued that AI could make these systems faster, cheaper, and more transparent. However, he offered few specifics about how such systems would be tested or implemented.
“We are at the cutting edge of AI. We’re implementing it in all of our departments. At FDA, we’re accelerating drug approvals so that you don’t need to use primates or even animal models. You can do the drug approvals very, very quickly with AI.”
What’s the worry? While faster drug approval may have the potential to improve these processes, experts warn that rushing this process with unproven AI tools could lead to serious mistakes. Testing new medicines still requires careful evaluation, and many believe AI needs stronger regulation before it can be trusted with major public health decisions.
GRAMMARLY EXPANDS TO EMAIL CREATION 📧
I hate autocorrect. It makes me say things I didn’t Nintendo! 😡
What’s up? Grammarly is buying the email app Superhuman (frequently featured by FryAI) to expand into AI-powered productivity tools.
Want the details? Grammarly, best known for its AI writing assistant, says email is already its top use case—helping users edit over 50 million emails each week. Now, by acquiring Superhuman, Grammarly will own its own email app. This lets it directly build and show off new AI features, like smart assistants that help write and manage messages. The move follows Grammarly’s recent purchase of Coda, another productivity tool, and shows the company is aiming to become more than just a grammar checker.
Why does this matter? Grammarly wants to turn into a full productivity platform powered by AI “agents”—tools that can handle tasks like writing sales pitches, replying to customers, or creating marketing emails. Since many people spend hours in their inbox every day, email is a natural place to start.
