ANTHROPIC TROLLS CHATGPT WITH SUPER BOWL COMMERCIAL 🏈
What’s up? OpenAI has confirmed that ads will soon appear in ChatGPT conversations, prompting rival Anthropic to double down on staying ad-free — while throwing shade with a cheeky Super Bowl commercial (above).
Why? OpenAI CEO Sam Altman once called ads a “last resort,” but the company recently admitted that they’re on the way for ChatGPT. In response, Anthropic (maker of Claude) announced it will not include ads in Claude conversations. The company argues ads can bias responses and shift priorities from being helpful to maximizing clicks. To illustrate the point, Anthropic released a humorous Super Bowl ad showing an AI-like fitness tip that turns into a pitch for shoe insoles. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman defended his company with a long post on X, saying the commercial is funny but very mistaken—and hypocritical.
Why is this important? Ads could fundamentally change how we interact with AI. Instead of being trusted helpers, ad-driven chatbots might nudge users toward products, not insights. Anthropic’s stance signals a growing split in what “helpful AI” really means. However, if people remain unwilling to pay for premium tiers of these chatbots, ads may be the only way to keep them free. After all, building advanced AI is extremely expensive, and the bills have to be paid somehow.
FITBIT FOUNDERS LAUNCH FAMILY HEALTH APP 🙏
What’s new? James Park and Eric Friedman, co-founders of Fitbit, have launched a new AI-powered family health platform called Luffu.
Want the details? Luffu is designed to ease the mental load of caregiving by helping families track and manage health details in one place. The app uses AI to quietly monitor symptoms, medications, appointments, and day-to-day patterns across the entire family. Users can log information with voice, photos, or text, and the system sends smart alerts when something changes—like a shift in sleep patterns or a missed medication. It even lets users ask plain-language questions like “How’s Mom doing after her new medication?”
Why is this important? Nearly 1 in 4 U.S. adults are now family caregivers—a number that’s growing fast. Luffu could help reduce stress and confusion by making caregiving more organized, proactive, and collaborative. It’s now accepting sign-ups for early access through a limited public beta.
