🤑 Fundraisly

An AI fundraising agent that finds investors and books meetings.

What’s up? Anthropic, the company behind the Claude chatbot, has confidentially filed for an IPO, moving faster than expected in the race to become the first major AI startup to hit the public stock market.

Want the details? Filing for an IPO means Anthropic is starting the process of offering shares to public investors, though the exact price and number of shares have not been set yet. The filing is confidential for now while the Securities and Exchange Commission reviews it. Anthropic recently reached a reported valuation of $965 billion after raising $65 billion in fresh funding, and it may aim for a $1 trillion valuation when it debuts. That would make it one of the biggest IPOs ever and put it ahead of rival OpenAI in reaching the market.

Why is this significant? Going public can unlock huge new funding for the AI race, especially as companies spend heavily on data centers and infrastructure. It also signals how enormous and competitive the AI industry has become.

What happened? Hackers used Meta’s AI support chatbot to help take over some users’ Instagram accounts.

How did this work? The attack worked by exploiting the way the chatbot handled account recovery. According to reports, hackers were able to pretend to be in the victim’s location, contact Meta’s AI support assistant, and ask it to add a new email address to the account. The bot then sent a verification code to the hacker’s email instead of requiring control of the real account owner’s email. After entering that code, the hacker could reset the password and lock the real user out. Several accounts were reportedly affected, including some high-profile ones, before Instagram said the issue was fixed.

Why should you care? This shows how AI tools can create new security risks when they are given too much authority. A support bot is supposed to help users, not become a security risk. For everyday people, it is a reminder that even trusted platforms can have weak points, especially when AI is involved in sensitive tasks like account access.
