AMAZON TESTS SMART GLASSES FOR DELIVERY DRIVERS 🤓

Image: Amazon

What’s new? Amazon is testing new AI-powered smart delivery glasses to help its Delivery Associates (DAs) navigate routes, detect hazards, and complete deliveries more safely and efficiently—all without using their phones.

How does this work? The smart glasses integrate computer vision, AI, and geospatial technology to display real-time navigation, package details, and delivery instructions directly in a driver’s field of view. Once a DA parks at a delivery site, the glasses automatically activate, guiding them to the correct package and walking them to the customer’s door. The device features a swappable battery, a safety alert button, and options for prescription or light-adjusting lenses. Developed with feedback from hundreds of drivers, the glasses are designed for all-day comfort and hands-free convenience.

Why should you care? By freeing drivers’ hands and attention, the glasses reduce distractions and improve safety during deliveries all while making them more efficient. For customers, that means faster, more accurate, and more reliable service—showing how AI and wearable tech are reshaping everyday work. However, there are growing concerns about how these systems collect visual data from people’s homes.

GENERAL MOTORS BRINGS AI TO YOUR VEHICLE 🚙

Image: GM

What’s up? General Motors unveiled a new wave of vehicle technology powered by AI, including a Google Gemini–based in-car assistant launching next year and a hands-free, “eyes-off” self-driving system set for 2028.

Want the details? The upcoming AI assistant will let drivers talk to their cars naturally—asking questions, setting destinations, or adjusting settings just by speaking. Built on Google’s Gemini AI, the system will learn user habits to anticipate needs and personalize the driving experience. GM also revealed plans for a centralized computing platform debuting in the 2028 Cadillac Escalade IQ, which will support advanced driver-assistance features using lidar sensors for enhanced road awareness. The company’s event also highlighted new factory robots and an expanded GM Energy business offering home energy solutions.

Why is this significant? These announcements mark a major push to turn cars into intelligent, connected companions. By blending AI, autonomy, and energy integration, GM aims to redefine how people drive—and position itself as a serious competitor in the tech-driven future of mobility.

REDDIT SUES PERPLEXITY FOR STEALING DATA 🥷

What’s up? Reddit has filed a federal lawsuit against Perplexity AI and three other companies, accusing them of running an “industrial-scale, unlawful” data-scraping operation that collected millions of Reddit comments for commercial use without permission.

Want the details? According to Reddit, Perplexity—an AI “answer engine” competing with Google and ChatGPT—relied on data brokers like Oxylabs, SerpApi, and AWMProxy to bypass anti-scraping protections and extract Reddit content from Google search results. The platform argues these companies masked their identities and evaded detection to gather massive amounts of user-generated text used to train AI systems. Each defendant denies wrongdoing, with Perplexity insisting it supports open access to public information and Oxylabs claiming no one can “own” public data.
