Wake up, sleepyhead! Time to chow down on the latest. 🍽️
🤯 MYSTERY AI LINK 🤯
This link leads to one of the most interesting things I’ve seen in AI recently.
🛠️ NEW AI TOOLS 🛠️
What’s cookin’? Researchers built a new AI model that can find hidden health signals in routine overnight sleep studies. These tests already collect detailed data from the brain, heart, lungs, muscles, and breathing, but doctors usually reduce that information to a few basic scores, especially for sleep apnea. The AI looked at the fuller picture and sorted patients into five risk groups. The highest-risk group had about twice the chance of dying within five years compared with the lowest-risk group, even though the standard sleep apnea score did not catch that difference. The model was trained using Cleveland Clinic’s STARLIT sleep registry and confirmed in a nationwide patient group.
“For decades we have distilled an overnight sleep study into a handful of summary measures. AI gives us the opportunity to move beyond those summaries and learn from the full richness of sleep physiology.”
🤔 Hunter’s take: This shows that ordinary medical tests may be hiding much more useful information than we realize. The big shift is not just AI making medicine faster, but AI finding warning signs doctors were never taught to look for.
What’s cookin’? OpenAI says an internal version of its next major model, Astra, helped produce ten new advances in mathematics and theoretical computer science. These were not simple homework-style answers. The model generated arguments that solved or made major progress on long-standing problems in areas like sphere packing, coding theory, quantum complexity, cryptography, and graph theory.
🤔 Hunter’s take: Math has always been one of the clearest tests of deep reasoning. A chatbot can sound smart, but proving something new is different. It means AI may be moving from “helpful assistant” to actual research collaborator. The big question now is not just whether AI can find answers, but who gets credit, who checks the work, and how humans act on discoveries they did not fully create themselves.
