Influencers might be out of their “jobs” soon … as AI models are taking over. 🤖

What’s going on? Spanish modeling agency, The Clueless, has introduced the country’s first AI influencer, Aitana López, capable of earning up to $11,000 a month as a model.

More details? Founder Rubén Cruz revealed that the decision to create Aitana arose from challenges faced while working with human models and influencers, leading to project delays and cancellations. Aitana, a 25-year-old pink-haired virtual personality developed through Fanvue, has rapidly gained popularity with 124,000 followers on Instagram. Cruz explained, "We did it so that we could make a better living and not be dependent on other people who have egos, who have manias, or who just want to make a lot of money by posing." Aitana’s Instagram showcases a range of activities, from nights out to gym sessions, all created using AI photoshop.

What is the significance? Aitana’s success underscores the rising trend of AI influencers. Fanvue's CEO, Will Monange, predicts that AI-generated characters will soon be as widespread as human creators, signaling a transformative shift in the influencer landscape.

PUTIN’S PLAN TO COUNTER WESTERN AI DOMINANCE 🦾

Never accept tea offered by the Russian President … because you never know what Vladimir Putin it. 🫖

What happened? At the Artificial Intelligence Journey conference in Moscow, Russian president Vladimir Putin emphasized the need for domestic AI models to encompass global diversity, focusing on countering Western dominance in AI.

What did Putin say? Putin expressed concern about existing AI models exhibiting biases and selectivity, potentially marginalizing Russian culture due to reliance on English-centric datasets. Putin staunchly opposes the Western AI monopoly, deeming it "unacceptable, dangerous, and inadmissible." The urgency to rectify this situation prompted Putin to underscore the necessity of revising laws and fostering international collaboration.

A look at the numbers? According to Stanford’s Institute for Human-Centered AI (HAI): The United States has sixteen significant machine learning systems, the United Kingdom has eight, and Russia has just one. Similarly, close to 300 authors of these systems come from the United States, another 140 are from the United Kingdom, and only three come from Russia.

U.S. MILITARY CLOSES IN ON KILLER AI DRONES 😳

AI drones might be the future of warfare … and the implications are scary. 😬

What’s up? Countries such as the U.S., China, and Israel are actively developing lethal autonomous weapons capable of selecting targets through AI. Critics warn that deploying these "killer robots" would represent a dangerous shift, relinquishing life-and-death decisions to machines without human input.

Who’s in and who’s out? Some governments are urging the United Nations to enact a binding resolution limiting the use of AI killer drones. However, a coalition including the U.S., Russia, Australia, and Israel opposes this, advocating for a non-binding resolution instead. The Pentagon, in pursuit of military dominance, aims to deploy swarms of AI-enabled drones. U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks sees this technology as a strategic countermeasure to China's numerical advantage in weaponry and personnel. Frank Kendall, the Air Force secretary, agrees but emphasizes the necessity for AI drones to make lethal decisions under human supervision, arguing that this capability is crucial for strategic success. Whatever decisions end up being made, they need to be made fast, as many reports suggest that Ukraine has already deployed AI-controlled drones in its conflict with Russia.
